Materials Data on Rb2CoCl4 by Materials Project
Abstract
Rb2CoCl4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pna2_1 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Rb1+ sites. In the first Rb1+ site, Rb1+ is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Rb–Cl bond distances ranging from 3.35–3.95 Å. In the second Rb1+ site, Rb1+ is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to nine Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Rb–Cl bond distances ranging from 3.32–3.99 Å. Co2+ is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four Cl1- atoms. There are three shorter (2.25 Å) and one longer (2.27 Å) Co–Cl bond lengths. There are four inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the first Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to five Rb1+ and one Co2+ atom. In the second Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to four Rb1+ and one Co2+ atom. In the third Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to four Rb1+ and one Co2+ atom. In the fourth Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to five Rb1+ and one Co2+ atom.
