Materials Data on Cd8Au5 by Materials Project
Abstract
Au5Cd8 is gamma-brass structured and crystallizes in the cubic I-43m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Au sites. In the first Au site, Au is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Au and nine Cd atoms. All Au–Au bond lengths are 3.12 Å. There are a spread of Au–Cd bond distances ranging from 2.93–3.01 Å. In the second Au site, Au is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to three Au and ten Cd atoms. The Au–Au bond length is 2.88 Å. There are a spread of Au–Cd bond distances ranging from 2.88–3.24 Å. There are two inequivalent Cd sites. In the first Cd site, Cd is bonded in a distorted hexagonal planar geometry to six Au and three equivalent Cd atoms. All Cd–Cd bond lengths are 3.02 Å. In the second Cd site, Cd is bonded in a 11-coordinate geometry to six Au and five Cd atoms. All Cd–Cd bond lengths are 3.02 Å.
