Materials Data on IrRhN5Cl7 by Materials Project
Abstract
IrCl6RhNCl(N2)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/m space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of sixteen ammonia molecules, four IrCl6 clusters, and four RhNCl clusters. In two of the IrCl6 clusters, Ir3+ is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Ir–Cl bond distances ranging from 2.28–2.32 Å. There are four inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the first Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ir3+ atom. In the second Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ir3+ atom. In the third Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ir3+ atom. In the fourth Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ir3+ atom. In two of the IrCl6 clusters, Ir3+ is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Ir–Cl bond distances ranging from 2.29–2.32 Å. There are five inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the fifth Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ir3+ atom. In each RhNCl cluster, Rh3+ is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to one N+0.20+ and one Cl1- atom. The Rh–N bond length is 1.70 Å. The Rh–Cl bond length is 2.61 Å. N+0.20+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Rh3+ atom. Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Rh3+ atom.
