Light Curves and Spectra from Kilonova Models
Abstract
Kilonovae are the radioactively powered optical/IR transients following a binary neutron star or neutron star black hole merger. A broad grid (varying ejecta mass, velocity, composition) of 900 2D kilonova models were simulated with Monte Carlo on Grizzly, using MPI+OpenMP. The set of models are being compared to observation AT2017gfo (the electromagnetic counterpart of gravitational wave GW170817), and hint at potential fidelity improvements.
