TPC Test-stands: An Overview & Future Prospects
Abstract
The DUNE near detector design in Phase II will include a magnetized high-pressure gaseous-argon TPC (HPgTPC) surrounded by a calorimeter, called ND-GAr. ND-GAr is designed to provide fine-grained tracking, and due to its low detection threshold, it will be able to constrain one of the least-understood uncertainties for oscillation analysis: nuclear effects in argon at the neutrino interaction vertex. This talk will provide an overview of and an outlook about the ongoing R&D efforts in the context of the existing test stands that are evaluating the various readout system options for DUNE ND-GAr.
