Direct Air Capture (DAC) With Nuclear Power Sources

Abstract

The presentation summarizes a recently published report, along with ANL and INL, on utilizing waste heat and power from nuclear power plants (NPP) for direct air capture (DAC) applications. Two DAC technologies are considered – solid sorbent (S-DAC) and liquid solvent (L-DAC). S-DAC uses both heat and power from NPPs, while L-DAC uses only power. The results show that using NPPs for DAC applications results in an economic benefit compared to using fossil fired power plants
