Improving and Measuring Water Oxidation Catalyst Viability
Abstract
A major challenge that limits the efficiency of the overall water splitting reaction is the oxidation half-reaction, a process that releases oxygen and electrons, which in turn can reduce either protons or carbon dioxide to make hydrogen or carbon-based fuel. In this project, the major objectives are to increase the stability of water oxidation catalysts (WOCs), to develop ways to study catalyst stability, and to enable WOC performance in acidic media.
