Transmission Route Engineering Analysis And Design
Abstract
INL’s Transmission Route Engineering Analysis and Design [tool] (TREAD) is a tool meant for the design and routing of new transmission lines. TREAD is capable of taking an arbitrarily large amount of surface layers represented as geographical files and then using a modified version of Dijkstra’s Algorithm for finding the best path. TREAD is also capable of interacting with different weather models in order to gather weather data about the locations that are being routed to. This weather data is then used in conjunction with INL’s General Line Ampacity State Solver.
