NASA patent abstracts bibliography: A continuing bibliography. Section 2: Indexes (supplement 09)

There are 200 patents and applications for patent introduced into the NASA scientific and technical information system during the period January 1976 through June 1976 presented. Each entry consists of a citation, an abstract, and, in most cases, a key illustration selected from the patent or application for patent. There are 2,994 patent and application for patent citations covering the period May 1969 through June 1976 listed. Subject, inventor, source, number, and accession number indexes are set forth.

Cryogenic adhesives and sealants: Abstracted publications

Abstracts of primary documents containing original experimental data on the properties of adhesives and sealants at cryogenic temperatures are presented. The most important references mentioned in each document are cited. In addition, a brief annotation is given for documents considered secondary in nature, such as republications or variations of original reports, progress reports leading to final reports included as primary documents, and experimental data on adhesive properties at temperatures between about 130 K and room temperature.

Cryogenic foam insulation: Abstracted publications

A group of documents were chosen and abstracted which contain information on the properties of foam materials and on the use of foams as thermal insulation at cryogenic temperatures. The properties include thermal properties, mechanical properties, and compatibility properties with oxygen and other cryogenic fluids. Uses of foams include applications as thermal insulation for spacecraft propellant tanks, and for liquefied natural gas storage tanks and pipelines.

Soviet-French working group interpretation of the scientific information during the search for celestial sources of gamma pulses, abstract of reports, 24-30 March 1977

The progress made and techniques used by the Soviet-French group in the study of gamma and X ray pulses are described in abstracts of 16 reports. Experiments included calibration and operation of various recording instruments designed for measurements involving these pulses, specifically the location of sources of such pulses in outer space. Space vehicles are utilized in conjunction with ground equipment to accomplish these tests.

Abstracts for the Planetary Geology Field Conference on Aeolian Processes

The Planetary Geology Field Conference on Aeolian Processes was organized at the request of the Planetary Geology Program office of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to bring together geologists working on aeolian problems on earth and planetologists concerned with similar problems on the planets. Abstracts of papers presented at the conference are arranged herein by alphabetical order of the senior author. Papers fall into three broad categories: (1) Viking Orbiter and Viking Lander results on aeolian processes and/or landforms on Mars, (2) laboratory results on studies of aeolian processes, and (3) photogeology and field studies of aeolian processes on Earth.

Extending reliability: Transformational tailoring of abstract mathematical software

Methods for automatically constructing concrete executable programs from an abstract prototype program by applying transformations based on theorems of matrix algebra and on algebraic properties of programming languages are described. These methods provide a user with highly efficient programs tailored to his environment while maintaining the advantages of high reliability and low cost associated with routines from the best mathematical software libraries. Also, the transformations which produce such programs represent a formal codification of rules for writing linear algebra programs.

Hydrogen Energy is a continuing bibliographic summary with abstracts of research and projections on the subject of hydrogen as a secondary fuel and as an energy carrier. This update to Hydrogen Energy cites additional references identified during the fourth quarter of 1978. It is the fourth in a 1978 quarterly series intended to provide current awareness to those interested in hydrogen energy. A series of cross indexes are included which track directly with those of the cumulative volume.

Heat pipe technology. A bibliography with abstracts

This bibliography cites 55 publications on the theory, design, development, fabrication, and testing of heat pipes. Applications covered include solar, nuclear, and thermoelectric energy conversion. A book (in Russian) on low temperature heat pipes is included as well as abstracts when available. Indexes provided list authors, titles/keywords (permuted) and patents.

Application of abstract harmonic analysis to the high-speed recognition of images

Methods are constructed for rapidly computing correlation functions using the theory of abstract harmonic analysis. The theory developed includes as a particular case the familiar Fourier transform method for a correlation function which makes it possible to find images which are independent of their translation in the plane. Two examples of the application of the general theory described are the search for images, independent of their rotation and scale, and the search for images which are independent of their translations and rotations in the plane.

Eutectic alloys. Citations from the International Aerospace Abstracts data base

These 250 abstracts from the international literature provide summaries of the preparation, treatments, composition and structure, and properties of eutectic alloys. Techniques for directional solidification and treatments including glazing, coating, and fiber reinforcement are discussed. In addition to the mechanical and thermal properties, the superconducting, corrosion, resistance, and thermionic emission and adsorption properties are described.

Solar thermal components. A bibliography with abstracts

This bibliographic series cites and abstracts literature and technical papers on components applied to solar thermal energy utilization. The quarterly volumes are divided into ten categories: material properties; flat plat collectors; concentrating collectors; thermal storage; heat pumps; coolers and heat exchangers; solar ponds and distillation; greenhouses; process pleat; and irrigation pumps. Each quarterly volume is compiled from a wide variety of data bases, report literature, technical briefs, journal articles and other traditional and non traditional sources. The Technology Application Center maintains a library containing many of the articles and publications referenced in the series.

Pioneer Venus Unified Abstract Data Library and Quick Look Data Delivery System

Development of the Pioneer Venus (PV) Unified Abstract Data System (UADS) and Quick Look Data System (QLDS) was prompted by the need to provide PV investigators rapid and easy access to PV mission data. The UADS is intended to maximize the scientific benefits of the mission by facilitating the exchange of reduced scientific data. QLDS provides a method by which sampled daily mission data is rapidly transmitted to principal investigators providing them a quick look at that orbit's data.
