Investigation of carbohydrate and protein metabolism in the digestive organs of the rabbit under the combined influence of vibration, acceleration and irradiation

During spaceflight, the organism is subjected to the influence of various extremal factors such as acceleration, vibration, irradiation, etc. The study of the influence of these factors on metabolism, especially carbohydrate and protein metabolism, in young rabbits is of great significance in simulation experiments. Dynamic factors and irradiation, depending on dose and duration, lead to reduced RNA and protein metabolism.

Digest of celestial X-ray missions and experiments

Information on instruments, the platforms that carried them, and the data they gathered is presented. Instrument selection was confined to detectors operating in the 0.20 to 300 keV range. Included are brief descriptions of the spacecraft, experiment packages and missions. Cross-referenced indexes are provided for types of instruments, energy ranges, time spans covered, positional catalogs and observational catalogs. Data sets from these experiments (NSSDC) are described.

Hail parameter relations - A comprehensive digest

Diagrams of hail size parameters are presented and attempts are made to correlate size and mass/volume as indicators of integral quantities of hailstone fall. Radar cross-sections are presented, along with related radar parameters such as the equivalent radar reflectivity factor, the mean Doppler fallspeed, the variance of the Doppler spectrum, and the ratio of the reflectivity factors for the 3.21 and 10.0 cm radar wavelengths used. An analysis of the possible effects of natural or artificial modification of the hail size distribution are discussed.

International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, Washington, DC, June 8-10, 1981, Digest. Volumes 1 & 2

Sensors used for the geophysical and remote sensing studies are reviewed; in particular, NIMBUS-7 Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer results are given. Remote sensing analyses consider such areas as hydrology, soil moisture, and planetary surfaces. In addition, Shuttle remote sensing experiments and SAR systems, remote sensing in the thermal infrared, and microwave remote sensing of the earth are considered. Finally, attention is given to lithologic and geobotanical studies, and geophysical sensing techniques and inversion theory.

1982 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, Munich, West Germany, June 1-4, 1982, Digest. Volumes 1 & 2

Theoretical and experimental data which have defined and/or extended the effectiveness of remote sensing operations are explored, with consideration given to both scientific and commercial activities. The remote sensing of soil moisture, the sea surface, and oil slicks is discussed, as are programs using satellites for studying geodynamics and geodesy, currents and waves, and coastal zones. NASA, Canadian, and Japanese radar and microwave passive and active systems are described, together with algorithms and techniques for image processing and classification. The SAR-580 project is outlined, and attention is devoted to satellite applications in investigations of the structure of the atmosphere, agriculture and land use, and geology. Design and performance features of various optical scanner, radar, and multispectral data processing systems and procedures are detailed.
