Study of the decay D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e

We present a study of the semileptonic decay D 0 → π − π 0 e + ν e using an e + e − annihilation data sample of 7.93 fb − 1 collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fraction of D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e is measured to be ( 1.439 ± 0.033 ( stat ) ± 0.027 ( syst ) ) × 10 − 3 , which is a factor 1.6 more precise than previous measurements. By performing an amplitude analysis, we measure the hadronic form-factor ratios of D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e at q 2 = 0 assuming the single-pole-dominance parametrization: r V = V ( 0 ) / A 1 ( 0 ) = 1.548 ± 0.079 ( stat ) ± 0.041 ( syst ) and r 2 = A 2 ( 0 ) / A 1 ( 0 ) = 0.823 ± 0.056 ( stat ) ± 0.026 ( syst ) . Observation of D → a 0 ( 980 ) π in the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η

We report the first amplitude analyses of the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η using a data sample taken with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3773 MeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.9 fb − 1 . The contribution from the process D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ( 0 ) is significantly larger than the D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) − ( 0 ) π + contribution. The ratios B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ) / B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) − π + ) and B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) + π 0 ) / B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) 0 π + ) are measured to be 7.5 − 0.8 stat + 2.5 ± 1.7 syst and 2.6 ± 0.6 stat ± 0.3 syst , respectively. The measured D 0 ratio disagrees with the theoretical predictions by orders of magnitudes, thus implying a substantial contribution from final-state interactions. Observation of time-dependent C P violation and measurement of the branching fraction of B 0 → J / ψ π 0 decays

We present a measurement of the branching fraction and time-dependent charge-parity ( C P ) decay-rate asymmetries in B 0 → J / ψ π 0 decays. The data sample was collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric e + e − collider in 2019–2022 and contains ( 387 ± 6 ) × 10 6 B B ¯ meson pairs from ϒ ( 4 S ) decays. We reconstruct 392 ± 24 signal decays and fit the C P parameters from the distribution of the proper-decay-time difference of the two B mesons. We measure the branching fraction to be ( B 0 → J / ψ π 0 ) = ( 2.00 ± 0.12 ± 0.09 ) × 10 − 5 and the direct and mixing-induced C P asymmetries to be C C P = 0.13 ± 0.12 ± 0.03 and S C P = − 0.88 ± 0.17 ± 0.03 , respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe mixing-induced C P violation with a significance of 5.0 standard deviations for the first time in this mode. Published by the American Physical Society 2025

Measurement of the time-integrated C P asymmetry in D 0 → K S 0 K S 0 decays using Belle and Belle II data

We measure the time-integrated C P asymmetry in D 0 → K S 0 K S 0 decays reconstructed in e + e − → c c ¯ events collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments. The corresponding data samples have integrated luminosities of 980 and 428 fb − 1 , respectively. The D 0 decays are required to originate from the D * + → D 0 π + decay, which determines the charm flavor at production time. A control sample of D 0 → K + K − decays is used to correct for production and detection asymmetries. The result, ( − 1.4 ± 1.3 ( stat ) ± 0.1 ( syst ) ) % , is consistent with previous determinations and with C P symmetry. Published by the American Physical Society 2025

Measurement of the branching fraction, polarization, and time-dependent C P asymmetry in B 0 → ρ + ρ − decays and constraint on the CKM angle ϕ 2

We present a measurement of the branching fraction and fraction of longitudinal polarization of B 0 → ρ + ρ − decays, which have two π 0 ’s in the final state. We also measure time-dependent C P violation parameters for decays into longitudinally polarized ρ + ρ − pairs. This analysis is based on a data sample containing ( 387 ± 6 ) × 10 6 ϒ ( 4 S ) mesons collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider in 2019–2022. We obtain B ( B 0 → ρ + ρ − ) = ( 2.8 9 − 0.22 + 0.23 − 0.27 + 0.29 ) × 10 − 5 , f L = 0.92 1 − 0.025 + 0.024 − 0.015 + 0.017 , S = − 0.26 ± 0.19 ± 0.08 , and C = − 0.02 ± 0.1 2 − 0.05 + 0.06 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We use these results to perform an isospin analysis to constrain the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle ϕ 2 and obtain two solutions; the result consistent with other Standard Model constraints is ϕ 2 = ( 92.6 − 4.7 + 4.5 ) ° . Measurement of branching fractions, C P asymmetry, and isospin asymmetry for B → ρ γ decays using Belle and Belle II data

We present measurements of B + → ρ + γ and B 0 → ρ 0 γ decays using a combined data sample of 772 × 10 6 B B ¯ pairs collected by the Belle experiment and 387 × 10 6 B B ¯ pairs collected by the Belle II experiment in e + e − collisions at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance. After an optimized selection, a simultaneous fit to the Belle and Belle II datasets yields 114 ± 12 B + → ρ + γ and 99 ± 12 B 0 → ρ 0 γ decays. The measured branching fractions are ( 13.1 − 1.9 − 1.2 + 2.0 + 1.3 ) × 10 − 7 and ( 7.6 ± 1.3 − 0.8 + 1.0 ) × 10 − 7 for B + → ρ + γ and B 0 → ρ 0 γ decays, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also measure the isospin asymmetry A I ( B → ρ γ ) = ( 10.9 − 11.7 − 7.3 + 11.2 + 7.8 ) % and the direct C P asymmetry A C P ( B + → ρ + γ ) = ( − 8.2 ± 15.2 − 1.3 + 2.0 ) % . Search for resonance-enhanced C P and angular asymmetries in the Λ c + → p μ + μ − decay at LHCb

The first measurement of the C P asymmetry of the decay rate ( A C P ) and the C P average ( Σ A FB ) and C P asymmetry ( Δ A FB ) of the forward-backward asymmetry in the muon system of Λ c + → p μ + μ − decays is reported. The measurement is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions, recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb − 1 . The asymmetries are measured in two regions of dimuon mass near the ϕ -meson mass peak. The dimuon-mass integrated results are A C P = ( − 1.1 ± 4.0 ± 0.5 ) % , Σ A FB = ( 3.9 ± 4.0 ± 0.6 ) % , Δ A FB = ( 3.1 ± 4.0 ± 0.4 ) % , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with the conservation of C P symmetry and the Standard Model expectations. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN

Search for a Sub-eV Sterile Neutrino Using Daya Bay’s Full Dataset

This Letter presents results of a search for the mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with three active neutrinos based on the full data sample of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment, collected during 3158 days of detector operation, which contains 5.55 × 106 reactor $\overline{v}$ e candidates identified as inverse beta-decay interactions followed by neutron capture on gadolinium. The analysis benefits from a doubling of the statistics of our previous result and from improvements of several important systematic uncertainties. No significant oscillation due to mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with active neutrinos was found. Exclusion limits are set by both Feldman-Cousins and CLs methods. Light sterile neutrino mixing with sin 2⁡ 2⁢θ 14 ≳ 0.01 can be excluded at 95% confidence level in the region of 0.01 eV 2 ≲ |Δ⁢$m$$^{2}_{41}$| ≲ 0.1 eV 2 . This result represents the world-leading constraints in the region of 2 × 10 –4 eV 2 ≲ |Δ⁢$m$$^{2}_{41}$| ≲ 0.2 eV 2 .

Precise Measurement of Born Cross Sections for e + e − → D D ¯ at s = 3.80 − 4.95 GeV

Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.80 to 4.95 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20 fb − 1 , a measurement of Born cross sections for the e + e − → D 0 D ¯ 0 and D + D − processes is presented with unprecedented precision. Many clear peaks in the line shape of e + e − → D 0 D ¯ 0 and D + D − around the mass range of G ( 3900 ) , ψ ( 4040 ) , ψ ( 4160 ) , Y ( 4260 ) , and ψ ( 4415 ) , etc., are foreseen. Search for Time-Dependent C P Violation in D 0 → π + π − π 0 Decays

A measurement of time-dependent C P violation in D 0 → π + π − π 0 decays using a p p collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment in 2012 and from 2015 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.7 fb − 1 , is presented. The initial flavor of each D 0 candidate is determined from the charge of the pion produced in the D * ( 2010 ) + → D 0 π + decay. The decay D 0 → K − π + π 0 is used as a control channel to validate the measurement procedure. Strong and Weak C P Tests in Sequential Decays of Polarized Σ 0 Hyperons

The J / ψ , ψ ( 3686 ) → Σ 0 Σ ¯ 0 processes and subsequent decays are studied using the world’s largest J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) data samples collected with the BESIII detector. The parity-violating decay parameters of the decays Σ 0 → Λ γ and Σ ¯ 0 → Λ ¯ γ , α Σ 0 = − 0.0017 ± 0.0021 ± 0.0018 and α ¯ Σ 0 = 0.0021 ± 0.0020 ± 0.0022 , are measured for the first time. The strong C P symmetry is tested in the decays of the Σ 0 hyperons for the first time by measuring the asymmetry A C P Σ = α Σ 0 + α ¯ Σ 0 = ( 0.4 ± 2.9 ± 1.3 ) × 10 − 3 . The weak C P test is performed in the subsequent decays of their daughter particles Λ and Λ ¯ . Also for the first time, the transverse polarizations of the Σ 0 hyperons in J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) decays are observed with opposite directions, and the ratios between the S -wave and D -wave contributions of the J / ψ , ψ ( 3686 ) → Σ 0 Σ ¯ 0 decays are obtained. These results are crucial to understand the decay dynamics of the charmonium states and the production mechanism of the Σ 0 − Σ ¯ 0 pairs. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Study of the Decay and Production Properties of D s 1 ( 2536 ) and D s 2 * ( 2573 )

The absolute branching fractions of D s 1 ( 2536 ) − → D ¯ * 0 K − and D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − → D ¯ 0 K − are measured for the first time to be ( 35.9 ± 4.8 ± 3.5 ) % and ( 37.4 ± 3.1 ± 4.6 ) % , respectively. The e + e − → D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − and e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6 GeV with a width of 50 MeV is observed in both processes with a statistical significance of 7.2 σ and 15 σ , respectively. The state is observed for the first time in e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − and could be the Y ( 4626 ) found by the Belle oration in the D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75 GeV in both processes. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Measurement of Λ b 0 , Λ c + , and Λ Decay Parameters Using Λ b 0 → Λ c + h − Decays

A comprehensive study of the angular distributions in the bottom-baryon decays Λ b 0 → Λ c + h − ( h = π , K ) , followed by Λ c + → Λ h + with Λ → p π − or Λ c + → p K S 0 decays, is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb − 1 collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The decay parameters and the associated charge-parity ( C P ) asymmetries are measured, with no significant C P violation observed. For the first time, the Λ b 0 → Λ c + h − decay parameters are measured. The most precise measurements of the decay parameters α , β , and γ are obtained for Λ c + decays and an independent measurement of the decay parameters for the strange-baryon Λ decay is provided. Evidence of h b ( 2 P ) → ϒ ( 1 S ) η Decay and Search for h b ( 1 P , 2 P ) → ϒ ( 1 S ) π 0 with the Belle Detector

The decay branching fraction is measured to be B [ h b ( 2 P ) → ϒ ( 1 S ) η ] = ( 7.1 − 3.2 + 3.7 ± 0.8 ) × 10 − 3 , which is noticeably smaller than expected. We also set upper limits on π 0 transitions of B [ h b ( 2 P ) → ϒ ( 1 S ) π 0 ] < 1.8 × 10 − 3 , and B [ h b ( 1 P ) → ϒ ( 1 S ) π 0 ] < 1.8 × 10 − 3 , at the 90% confidence level. Observation of $t\bar{t}$ Production in Pb+Pb Collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV with the ATLAS Detector

Top-quark pair production is observed in lead–lead (Pb+Pb) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider with the ATLAS detector. The data sample was recorded in 2015 and 2018, amounting to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 nb −1 . Events with exactly one electron and one muon and at least two jets are selected. Top-quark pair production is measured with an observed (expected) significance of 5.0 (4.1) standard deviations. The measured top-quark pair production cross section is 𝜎 𝑡⁢$\tilde{i}$ = 3.6⁢$^{+1.0}_{−0.9}$⁢(stat)⁢ $^{+0.8}_{−0.5}$⁢(syst) μ⁢b, with a total relative uncertainty of 31%, and is consistent with theoretical predictions using a range of different nuclear parton distribution functions. The observation of this process consolidates the evidence of the existence of all quark flavors in the preequilibrium stage of the quark-gluon plasma at very high energy densities, similar to the conditions present in the early Universe.

Measurements at forward rapidity of elliptic flow of charged hadrons and open-heavy-flavor muons in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{𝑠_{𝑁⁢𝑁}}$ = 200 GeV

Here, we present the first forward-rapidity measurements of elliptic anisotropy of open-heavy-flavor muons at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The measurements are based on data samples of Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{𝑠_{𝑁⁢𝑁}}$ = 200 GeV collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5 nb −1 . The measurements are performed in the pseudorapidity range 1.2 < |𝜂| < 2 and cover transverse momenta 1< 𝑝 𝑇 < 4 GeV/𝑐. The elliptic flow of charged hadrons as a function of transverse momentum is also measured in the same kinematic range. We observe significant elliptic flow for both charged hadrons and heavy-flavor muons. The results show clear mass ordering of elliptic flow of light- and heavy-flavor particles. The magnitude of the measured 𝑣 2 is comparable to that in the midrapidity region. This indicates that there is no strong longitudinal dependence in the quark-gluon-plasma evolution between midrapidity and the rapidity range of this measurement at $\sqrt{𝑠_{𝑁⁢𝑁}}$ = 200 GeV.
