The Grism and Prism are two slitless spectroscopic instruments which provide higher (R:500~900) and lower (R:75~170) dispersion spectra. The design methodology, as-designed performance and Monte Carlo simulations results are presented.
Grism and Prism are two important spectroscopic instruments on the RST. We present the modeling process for the as-built flight Grism and Prism hardware, and on-orbit Monte Carlo simulations to predict their end-of-life (EOL) performance.
The Prism’s dispersion is controlled by its wedge angle and refractive index as is its parfocality and aberrations. We employed precise measurements over the passband to correct the refractive indices for an accurate instrument model.
