Cardiac radioablation (CR), a new treatment for cardiac arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation, has had promising clinical outcomes to date. There is consequent desire for rapid clinical adoption. However, CR presents unique challenges to radiation therapy, and it is paramount that clinical adoption be performed safely and effectively. Recent reviews comprehensively detail patient selection, clinical history, treatment outcomes, and treatment toxicities but only briefly mention the technical aspects of CR. To address this knowledge gap, this review collates currently available knowledge regarding CR technology choice and procedural details to help inform and guide clinics considering implementing their own CR program, to aid technique standardization, and to highlight areas that require further development or verification.
In a combined retrospective and prospective study, human salivary glands were investigated after radiation treatment for head and neck cancers. The aim was to assess acinar cell loss and morphologic changes after radiation therapy and to determine whether irradiated salivary glands have regenerative potential.
This study investigated deep learning models for automatic segmentation to support the development of daily online dose optimization strategies, eliminating the need for internal target volume expansions and thereby reducing toxicity events of intensity modulated radiation therapy for cervical cancer.

Our purpose was to survey nationwide radiation oncology practices on their participation in, burden of, and satisfaction with the Medicare Access and Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) payment programs.
To investigate the temporal and spatial infiltration of TRAMP-C1 tumors by myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) after high-dose radiation therapy (RT), and to explore their effect on tumor growth.
To examine sexual health, including sexual satisfaction, and perceived changes in relationships and sexual relationships of human papillomavirus (HPV) oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) survivors ≥12 months after (chemo)radiation therapy.
Although proton therapy is controversial, it has been used to treat localized prostate cancer over the past 2 decades. The purpose of this study is to examine the long-term efficacy and toxicity of proton therapy for localized prostate cancer.
The phase 1 portion of this multicenter, phase 1/2 study of hypofractionated (HypoFx) prostate bed radiation therapy (RT) as salvage or adjuvant therapy aimed to identify the shortest dose-fractionation schedule with acceptable toxicity. The phase 2 portion aimed to assess the health-related quality of life (QoL) of using this HypoFx regimen.
Contouring inconsistencies are known but understudied in clinical radiation therapy trials. We applied auto-contouring to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) 0617 dose escalation trial data. We hypothesized that the trial heart doses were higher than reported due to inconsistent and insufficient heart segmentation. We tested our hypothesis by comparing doses between deep-learning (DL) segmented hearts and trial hearts.
Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy is being increasingly used for pancreatic cancer (PCa), particularly in patients with locally advanced and borderline resectable disease. A wide variety of dose fractionation schemes have been reported in the literature. This HyTEC review uses tumor control probability models to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of the various SBRT treatment regimens used in the treatment of patients with localized PCa.

We sought to investigate the tumor control probability (TCP) of vestibular schwannomas after single-fraction stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) or hypofractionated SRS over 2 to 5 fractions (fSRS).
An overview of common approaches used to assess a dose response for radiation therapy–associated endpoints is presented, using lung toxicity data sets analyzed as a part of the High Dose per Fraction, Hypofractionated Treatment Effects in the Clinic effort as an example. Each component presented (eg, data-driven analysis, dose-response analysis, and calculating uncertainties on model prediction) is addressed using established approaches. Specifically, the maximum likelihood method was used to calculate best parameter values of the commonly used logistic model, the profile-likelihood to calculate confidence intervals on model parameters, and the likelihood ratio to determine whether the observed data fit is statistically significant. The bootstrap method was used to calculate confidence intervals for model predictions. Correlated behavior of model parameters and implication for interpreting dose response are discussed.
We sought to investigate the tumor control probability (TCP) of spinal metastases treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in 1 to 5 fractions.
Exercise therapy (ET) is shown to improve toxicity and surrogates of survival for patients receiving chemotherapy. Current National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines lack recommendations for concurrent radiation therapy (RT) and ET. The main objective was to determine the impact of concurrent ET + RT with respect to (1) acceptability, feasibility, safety; and (2) to demonstrate how incorporating ET in cancer treatment can enhance patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and physical function—defined as strength or exercise capacity.
