Adaptive control circuit prevents amplifier saturation

Adaptive control circuit prevents saturation of push-pull output amplifiers used in low-power, low-torque suspension system. The adaptive control circuit senses how near the output amplifiers are to saturation and sets the B voltage in such a way as to keep them just clear of saturation.

Improved compensation circuit for direct-coupled amplifiers

Drift- and offset-control circuit compensates the inherent temperature drift and offset of a closed-loop feedback amplifier. It overcomes the disadvantages of conventional chopping circuits used to minimize drift in low-level, direct-coupled amplifiers.

Noise figure measurement concept for acoustic amplifiers

Optimum length buffer crystals are used with an amplification section for measuring the noise figure for acoustic amplifiers. Measuring the time required to saturate with noise a signal, which is reflected back and forth in the circuit, gives a direct measurement of the amplifiers noise figure.

Improved radiographic image amplifier panel

Layered image amplifier for radiographic /X ray and gamma ray/ applications, combines very high radiation sensitivity with fast image buildup and erasure capabilities by adding a layer of material that is both photoconductive and light-emitting to basic image amplifier and cascading this assembly with a modified Thorne panel.

Method for reducing snap in magnetic amplifiers

Method of reducing snap in magnetic amplifiers uses a degenerative feedback circuit consisting of a resistor and a separate winding on a magnetic core. The feedback circuit extends amplifier range by allowing it to be used at lower values of output current.

Highly stable biased amplifier and stretcher system

Amplifier and stretcher system, which minimizes thermal effects and compensates for repetition-rate effects, maintains resolution levels in spectrum analysis. An additional inverting amplifier is used in the system to provide a noiseless charge restorer.

Technique for lowering the noise figure in RF amplifiers

Low-level RF amplifiers are operated at noise figures at or near the theoretical minimum, while maintaining high-gain stability. Formulas for the minimum amplifier noise figure value are derived from the analytical noise-figure expression involving the parameters of the equivalent circuit representing the actual system.

Method of stabilizing flueric vortex valves and vortex amplifiers

Inducing losses in the vortex chamber of vortex valves and vortex amplifiers resolves the problem of unstable operation caused by a sufficiently large positive feedback. Induced losses also reduce pressure gain and throttling range of vortex pressure amplifier.

Low phase-shift amplifier

Single-stage MOSFET amplifier is described which is identical to standard neutralized amplifier except that neutralization provided by broadband transformer is applied to AGC gate instead of signal gate. Neutralization of drain-to-control gate capacity minimizes the phase change induced by variation in AGC.

Discrete component S-band power amplifier

A spacecraft S-band power amplifier for Nimbus satellite is reported that achieves stability by use of moderate Q input and output circuits. Circuit model for characterizing the nearly linear behavior of avalanche diodes in amplifier circuits

A nonlinear circuit model for avalanche diodes is proposed. The model was derived by assuming that the bias dependence of the elements in a known small-signal equivalent-circuit model for existing diodes arises in a manner consistent with the theory of an idealized Read-type device. The model contains a nonlinear R-L branch, a controlled source, and a linear depletion capacitance. The model is used in the nearly linear sense to predict intermodulation distortion and gain compression in avalanche diode amplifiers. Computed results for amplifiers with existing diodes are shown to be in good agreement with experiment.
