Thermal Tolerance Metrics for Freshwater Fish, CONUS, Version 1

This dataset is a compilation of 13 thermal response metrics for 834 freshwater fish species across the conterminous United States (CONUS). The data were extracted from six published sources, many of which are compilations of data from other sources. The data were harmonized for comparison, and additional variables were added to summarize the metrics. The dataset is presented as a spreadsheet containing 17 sheets. The first sheet (datasets) describes the data sources. Other sheets describe the source and compilation variables in detail.

Bowtie Manufacturing Images, Round 1&2

This dataset contains over 3,600 image files of images of a semiconductor manufactured part called 'Bowtie'. The data is grouped into 'accept' and 'reject' but does not contain masks for why the inspector rejected a part. There are further groupings such as different zoom magnifications, types of rejection (e.g. gouge, debris, etc.). Some of the parts have been laminated and are organized as such. For the 2nd round of data also included are Excel spreadsheets which can be used to identify position on the wafer where the images came from. The included PDF has example images and explains this in more detail.

2021 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) Cost and Performance Data for Electricity Generation Technologies

Starting in 2015 NREL has presented the Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) in an Excel workbook that contains detailed cost and performance data, both current and projected, for renewable and conventional technologies. The workbook includes a spreadsheet for each technology. This version of the workbook provides the final updates to data for the 2021 ATB. In 2019 and 2020, NREL has also provided selected data in Tableau workbooks and structured summary csv files. The data for 2015 - 2020 is located on https://data.nrel.gov. In 2021 and going forward, the data is cloud optimized and provided in the OEDI data lake. A website documents this and future data at https://atb.nrel.gov.

Closed Loop Pumped Storage Hydropower Resource Assessment of the United States

The data includes a geospatial and spreadsheet representation of a resource analysis for closed loop pumped storage systems across the Continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The data includes energy storage potential, water volume, distance from source to storage, hydraulic head, dollars per kilowatt of storage, and transmission spurline cost for each pumped storage hydropower (PHS) reservoir. Each reservoir represented in this dataset is represented on potential 10 hour storage duration PSH system comprised of two reservoirs. Units of measure are laid out in the dataset. Pumped storage hydropower (PSH) represents the bulk of the United States' current energy storage capacity: 23 gigawatts (GW) of the 24 GW national total (Denholm et al. 2021). This capacity was largely built between 1960 and 1990. PSH is a mature and proven method of energy storage with competitive round-trip efficiency and long life spans. These qualities make PSH a very attractive potential solution to energy storage needs, particularly for longer-duration storage (8 hours or more); such storage will be crucial to bridge gaps in electricity production as variable wind and solar production continue to comprise an ever-larger portion of the United States' energy portfolio. This study seeks to better understand the technical potential for PSH development in the United States by developing a national-scale resource assessment for closed-loop PSH. For more information, please refer to the Closed Loop Pumped Storage Hydropower Resource Assessment for the United States linked in the resources.

U.S. Wind Siting Regulation and Zoning Ordinances

A machine readable collection of documented wind siting ordinances at the state and local (e.g., county, township) level throughout the United States. The data were compiled from several sources including, DOE's Wind Exchange Ordinance Database (Linked in the submission), National Conference of State and Legislatures Wind Energy Siting (also linked in the submission), and scholarly legal articles. The citations for each ordinance are included in the spreadsheet. This data is an updated to a previously developed database of wind ordinances found in OEDI Submission 1932: "U.S. Wind Siting Regulation and Zoning Ordinances"

U.S. Solar Siting Regulation and Zoning Ordinances

A machine readable collection of documented solar siting ordinances at the state and local (e.g., county, township) level throughout the United States. The data were compiled based on a locality-by-locality review zoning ordinances after completing an initial review of scholarly legal articles. The citations for each ordinance are included in the spreadsheet.

Transient Data Library of Solar Grid Integrated Distributed System

This submission contains an open-source library of transient events in distributed system with high solar PV. The library includes the collected data, related documents and scripts for loading the data. The data library is built for transient event detection and machine learning based analysis algorithm development. The data was collected via both field test and software simulation. The units for the data are included in the data file headers for each data series. A text editor or spreadsheet software, such as Excel, and Matlab is required to view the data.

AquaPV: Foundational Analysis and Industry Guidance on Floating PV Results

This dataset contains results of the technical potential analysis of floating photovoltaics (FPV) on federally owned or permitted reservoirs in the United States. Estimates of the area of reservoirs that is technically feasible for FPV development are provided for reservoirs that are owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers or the US Bureau of Reclamation, or are associated with hydropower dams licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Other associated data are included, such as estimates of the potential evaporative losses of FPV development, and whether the waterbody is associated with an energy community or disadvantaged community that could qualify it for investment or production tax credits. Data is provided both as a spreadsheet and in a geospatial format including the waterbody geometries. Please read the included readme for more detailed field definitions.

U.S. Solar Siting Regulation and Zoning Ordinances (2025)

A machine readable collection of documented solar siting ordinances at the state and local (e.g., county, township) level throughout the United States. The data were compiled using the Infrastructure Continuous Ordinance Mapping for Planning and Siting Systems (INFRA-COMPASS) tool, which leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate the collection of local codes and ordinances applicable to energy infrastructure. URLs for the ordinance source documents are included in the Solar Ordinances spreadsheet. The GeoPackage file included below contains the jurisdiction shapes for each ordinance. Note that the GeoPackage file is formatted for ingestion by NLR's reVX setbacks tool and therefore does not contain any of the state-level regulations. NOTE: This data was collected with the help of generative AI. The Large Language Models used for this effort make mistakes. Always validate the data for critical use cases. This data is an update to a previously developed database of wind ordinances found in OEDI Submission 5734: see the "U.S. Solar Siting Regulation and Zoning Ordinances 2022" link below. Agrivoltaic Decision Tools for Perennial and Field Crop Farmers

This article describes a series of spreadsheet-based tools to help farmers estimate costs, revenues, and yields from agricultural production under different configurations of agrivoltaic installations for field and perennial crops. Crop-specific log books allow farmers to project changes in activity-level costs from the field due to agrivoltaic installations. The whole-farm tool helps farmers aggregate activity-level net returns up to the farm level to calculate projections of trade-offs between crop production with or without agrivoltaic installations. We present tools for lettuce and cranberries, but the tools are comprehensive and inclusive and so can be modified for other perennial and field crops.
