The Simplified Radionuclide Transport (SRT) code assists in reactor design and licensing by providing a detailed analysis of radionuclide transport under specific transient scenarios. This analysis is essential for ensuring that reactors meet safety and regulatory standards before they are authorized to operate. Mechanistic source term analysis, which involves a realistic evaluation of radionuclide behavior from the source to the environment, is a key component of this process. It provides a comprehensive understanding of potential release scenarios, supporting the development of robust safety measures.
Accelerators increasingly use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) software and workflows for a variety of tasks, from optimization to fault detection and recovery. Efficient and sustainable application of these technologies necessitates specialized and facility-specific infrastructure commitments. Accelerator facilities also introduce unique radiation and security hazards, placing additional demands on operational infrastructure. These needs further escalate the prioritization of effective collaboration models and associated funding mechanisms and legal frameworks.

The accelerator complex now known as the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) began operation in 1972 as LAMPF, the Los Alamos Meson Production Facility. In the intervening 53 years, the complex has been expanded in capability several times, both in terms of its accelerator performance and the user facilities it supports.
Overview of the DOE funded Grid Operator Analytics and Assessment tools for Inverter-Based Resources Dominated Grid (GOAAT-IBR) Project, including insight to the lab setup and event analysis and dashboards that are being developed for this project.
Kokkos, a C++ library focused on performance portability, requires a build system that can work with a variety of compilers and hardware. Ideally, users need only select the compiler and architecture and should not have to know or specify how programs using Kokkos are built. CMake can be used to create a flexible, robust build system and automatically configures compilers and settings based on the user’s inputs. Nevertheless, Kokkos’ requirements as a performance portability library for the build system exceed CMake’s current capabilities. This report describes the requirements, solutions, and testing of various implementations to create a CMake-based build system suitable for Kokkos. It compares the strengths and shortcomings of the approaches and evaluates the implementations with respect to the requirements. Because no solution was found to meet all of the requirements, the Kokkos team engaged with the CMake development team to discuss and plan a path toward support for performance-portable build systems in CMake in the future.
This report provides a compendium of references for Target Set and Vital Area Identification as well as an Excel sheet to aid in design vendor choice of method and understanding of required design documentation.
Stand-alone data centers, nuclear-powered data centers, and novel nuclear facilities such as fusion plant and small modular reactors (SMRs) are rapidly expanding, water-intensive sectors that present a significant challenge to the water-for-energy nexus. Their large-scale consumption of water for cooling systems not only reduces downstream water quantity but also degrades quality, demanding an integrated approach by stakeholders to understand and address these impacts through infrastructure planning and development.
The project replaced a thirty-four-year-old metal halide lighting system on the City's primary athletic field with new energy efficient LED lighting, significantly reducing operating and maintenance cost while providing a safer environment, additional recreational opportunities, improved energy efficiency, and reduced light spillover.
