A benchmark study was developed that include design, development, manufacturing, and performance measurement of agnostic reactor relevant geometries to support industry’s adoption of advanced manufacturing in a variety of structures. A matrix of five microreactor component geometries, specifically based on the recent feasibility study on a Marvel microreactor liner, was developed and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory team initiated one material/process combination, namely 316H using laser powder directed energy deposition (DED). Although the benchmark starts initially with simplistic cubical and cylindrical forms, it builds up to a mock-up of a non-proprietary design that can demonstrate a variety of features potentially useful for presenting knowledge to specific designers of microreactors and for the matter also for other reactor type designers. The initial cubical and cylindrical forms are initial steps to obtain surface features and dimensional responses to the identified process parameters to be used in the non-proprietary design mockup.
Poster presented at the 17th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies GHGT-17 held in Calgary, Canada, October 20-24, 2024. This poster highlights the integration of unsupervised machine learning (ML) techniques as a transformative tool for advancing understanding of CO2 injection into reservoirs that could potentially contribute to optimizing injection strategies and reservoir management, ultimately bolstering the efficacy and sustainability of CO2 storage.
To understand the full story of the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) and how the universe arrived at today’s universe, the structure of the Higgs potential needs to be probed. We must carefully select and study processes at the LHC that are sensitive to the Higgs potential. In this context, longitudinal vector boson scattering (VBS) processes, V L V L →V L V L , and di-Higgs production, including V L V L →HH at the LHC have been studied for any potential deviation from SM prediction. However, many classes of models beyond the Standard Model (BSM) may result in the 2→2 process being perfectly well-behaved and SM-like but show interesting deviations in 2→3, 2→4, or 2→n(3) processes. If we are to complete the mission objectives the P5 laid out, then a large swath of 2→n(3) must be thoroughly searched and checked. The research supported by this award used data collected at the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to explore VBS produced VVH process in the semi-merged channel. In addition, in the electroweak sector, there are open questions in the multi-gauge boson couplings and the Higgs couplings to the gauge bosons. The research supported by the award also studied the triboson production WWZ process at the LHC, which is a crossed diagram of a VBS process. During the funded period of 9 months, the analysis designs have been finalized.
In the summer of 2020, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded funding to Exelon’s Maryland utilities—Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Delmarva Power & Light (DPL), and Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco)—to implement the Smart Charge Management (SCM) pilot. This initiative aimed to design and implement managed electric vehicle (EV) charging strategies, evaluate the grid impacts of EV charging, and assess the utilities' ability to control EV load based on real-time grid conditions. The SCM pilot explored four aspects for continued improvement: (1) cybersecurity and managed charging functionality testing of two vendor platforms—WeaveGrid (telematics-based) and Shell Recharge Solutions (network-based)—which pursued charge scheduling and optimization through distinct approaches; (2) an analysis by Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) modeling team of three potential SCM enrollment scenarios within BGE and Pepco service territories over the next decade to assess future scalability; (3) employing customer engagement strategies, including surveys and a responsive pricing approach; and (4) the launch and implementation of pilots in Exelon’s Maryland territories in collaboration with WeaveGrid.

The phenomenon of random fluctuations in the amplitude and phase of received transionospheric radio frequency (RF) signals is well known and documented. For wide band signals, sometimes a set of frequencies in the the band or even the whole band can suffer degradation or complete drop out at the receiver. The former is known as frequency selective scintillation where only a fraction of the signal bandwidth is affected, whereas the latter is known as flat fading.

The exploitation of radio frequency (RF) signals from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) communication satellites for the purposes of navigation is an active field of research. In this alternative navigation system, navigation observables are passively extracted from existing RF signals. Because these signals are not designed for navigation purposes and often have proprietary signal structures that are unknown to the receiver, they lack much of the information required for navigation systems or such information is unavailable to the receiver.

This paper applied two methods of calculating 𝑀𝑀𝐿𝐿 with organic scintillators on fast bare HEU systems. Compared to 3He detector results and found agreement. Additionally, bootstrapped the data to characterize uncertainty
Modeling approach has significant impact on expected neutron spectral flux. Presence of water in Unit 3 greatly reduces neutron signal. Neutron flux from Homogeneous and Lattice models behaved more similarly as opposed to Layered model.
