U.S. Distribution Transformer Demand Phase III - Key Drivers and Managing Demand [Slides]

This presentation demonstrates a significant analysis, on forecasting the demand for distribution transformers. The analysis is conducted for the United States, estimating the initial in-service capacity of these assets, and forecasting demand for these assets through 2050 with several sensitivities conducted. It examines not only demand for these assets, but importantly, how utility planning practices can impact the demand for theses assets in time. Under load growth scenarios, whether utilities practice like-for-like replacement strategies as failures occur, or whether they practice proactive up-sizing, anticipating electric load growth, can have major impacts on future demand. It also examines several other growth factors, such as the increasing demand for step-up transformers, which share many of the same characteristics as distribution transformers, and the demand for specific transformers for large project growth from data centers.

Bipolar current driver for memory circuits

Circuit which logically determines the state of a flip-flop and amplifies the current from a clock pulse provides a bipolar driving current to a memory circuit, the polarity of which is determined by the state of a flip-flop. This principle may be applied to various memory driving circuits where power dissipation must be minimized.

Conceptual servo technique for controlling tape drivers

Electronic speed control design maintains magnetic tape in close synchronism at the airborne and ground stationed devices. Use of the servo system during the record and reproduce modes results in the minimum amount of frequency distortion and flutter.

Bentley, R.↗

High efficiency, high frequency magnetic deflection driver

Electromagnetic deflection yoke stores energy during the scan and releases it in the flyback or retrace. The operation of the device involves a method of switching to a voltage high enough to dissipate the flyback pulse during the retrace time and then operating during the scan time at a much lower voltage.

Shock tube with implosive jet driver.

Shock tube with cylindrical explosive to implode glass wall and produce high velocity glass particle jet, studying jet velocity and behavior and test gas pressure effects

Driver circuit for inductive loads

Circuit, based on use of power transistors which do not display second breakdown under valve loading, drives inductive loads. Peak voltages, power dissipations, heat sink requirements, and thermal stability considerations can be obtained by theoretical analysis.
