Sullivan Process near Threshold and the Pion Gravitational Form Factors

We propose a novel method to experimentally access the gravitational form factors of the charged pion 𝜋 + through the Sullivan process in electron-proton scattering. We demonstrate that the cross sections of 𝐽/𝜓 photoproduction and 𝜙 electroproduction near the respective thresholds are dominated by the gluon gravitational form factor of the pion to next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. We predict cross sections for the Electron-Ion Collider and the Jefferson Lab experiments.

Threshold photoproduction of 𝐽/Ψ off light nuclei

Here, we analyze threshold photoproduction of heavy mesons off a deuteron and helium-4, using the QCD factorization method. Assuming large skewness, the production amplitude is dominated by the leading twist-2 gluonic energy-momentum tensor. We use our recent results for the gluonic gravitational form factors of light nuclei in the impulse approximation, to estimate the differential cross sections for 𝐽/Ψ production off a deuteron and helium-4 at current electron facilities.

PySolate : A Python‐Based Thresholding Tool to Denoise or Designal Seismic Waveforms Based on the Continuous Wavelet Transform

PySolate is a Python‐based toolset that implements the continuous wavelet transform and nonlinear thresholding operations to denoise or designal seismic data, following Langston and Mousavi (2019). This filtering approach can remove microseismic noise to isolate intermediate‐period seismic signals that are key to enabling full‐waveform modeling and analysis of smaller‐magnitude regional events. This approach is best for the application to signals with frequency or time separation of signal and noise, in contrast to Fourier analysis, which is effective when signal and noise are separated in frequency. We demonstrate the Python toolset using the six announced Democratic People’s Republic of Korea declared nuclear tests, showing the effectiveness of isolating the seismic signal compared to standard bandpass filtering. In conclusion, we also demonstrate the ease of using the toolset with any Python processing tools.

Radionuclide Inventory Threshold for Trench 31 and 34 Located Within the 200 West Area Low-Level Burial Grounds

Trenches 31 and 34 located in the 200 West Area Low-Level Burial Ground (LLBG) are authorized for disposal of low-level and mixed low-level radioactive waste under DOE Order 435.1, Radioactive Waste Management. A revised Disposal Authorization Statement was issued in October 2023 following approval of the performance assessment (PA) and supporting technical basis documents. To be consistent with approved PA calculations, the waste acceptance criteria (WAC) needs to be updated to include concentration limits for Category 1 (CAT1) and Category 3 (CAT3) waste along with the inventory limits. This environmental calculation file (ECF) provides the inventory limits for Category 1 and Category 3 waste disposal of radionuclides at Trench 31 and 34 based on the PA calculations. The concentration limits are not calculated as they are provided in the PA itself. The inventory thresholds (or limits) are calculated for only those radionuclides that are identified in the PA as the primary dose contributors. The primary dose contributors for the groundwater pathway are technetium-99, iodine-129, niobium-94, chlorine-36, molybdenum-93, and niobium-93m while those for the air pathway are tritium and carbon-14.

Cable/Antenna Bounds Connecting Field Levels To Personnel Safety And Electronic Upset Thresholds

We use bounding models to estimate the power delivered to interior ordnance as well as the pin level voltages along a cable at interior electronic components. The procedures underlying these estimates are described in some detail. Conservation of steady-state power in a linear passive system underpins the power estimate, whereas, losses and quality factor limits underpin the limits on voltage transformations. The final levels are compared to no-fire threshold power and to minimum upset voltage levels in an example using a canonical slot aperture and cavity to estimate interior fields.

TARP Identifying Critical Thresholds for Acute Response of Plants and Ecosystems to Water Stress at Walker Branch Watershed, 2002-2005

This dataset contains data from a manipulative field study aimed at identifying critical thresholds for acute response of plants and ecosystems to water stress (TARP) that took place at Walker Branch Watershed in Oak Ridge, Tennessee from 2002-2005 (2002-06-20 to 2005-12-16). The study used understory tents for the removal of 100% of the growing-season throughfall and stem flow, to provide data on the impact of acute drought on mechanisms responsible for growth and mortality of deciduous forest canopy trees representative of common plant functional types (Liriodendron and Quercus). Through three years of manipulation (2003, 2004 and 2005; pretreatment measurements in 2002) various measures of tree response to surface moisture deficits were recorded including root and leaf traits, plant nonstructural carbohydrates status, hourly sapflow, basal area, and periodic observations of foliar photosynthesis and conductance. Additionally, environmental data such as air and soil temperature, soil water content, and soil matric potential were recorded. This dataset contains data 16 files in comma-separate (*.csv) format. Additional metadata are provided: 16 data dictionaries and a file-level metadata file in comma separate (*.csv) format and a user guide in PDF (*.pdf) format.

A Threshold Theory for Phase-Locked Loops

A model of a phase-locked loop has been developed which is valid for all signal-to-noise ratios. The model is in the form of a nonlinear feedback system with randomly time-varying parameters. The analysis considers two operating regions. In low signal-to-noise ratio regions, the important consideration is stability. We want to study the asymptotic stability in the mean of a nonlinear system. It follows directly that a necessary condition for asymptotic stability of any nonlinear system is that a linearized model about some equilibrium point be asymptotically stable. By considering all possible equilibrium points, we can find an upper bound on the value of noise density which makes the system unstable. This upper bound represents a threshold value for system operation. In high signal-to-noise ratio regions, our results provide an exact statistical. description of system behavior. Therefore, knowledge of the spectrum of the signal and noise may be used to optimize the system configuration.
