Influence of long-term head-down body position on innervation density in extremity blood vessels

The aim of the present study was to quantitate and compare the density of nerve terminals (NTD), as well as of their synaptic vesicle population (SyVD) in saphenous and brachial vein and artery, obtained from rats maintained in the horizontal or head-down tilted (HDT) position for two weeks. The same technique was applied as that for the head-up tilt study.

In vitro cell irradiation systems based on 210Po alpha source: construction and characterisation

One way of studying the risk to human health of low-level radiation exposure is to make biological experiments on living cell cultures. Two 210Po alpha-particle emitting devices, with 0.5 and 100 MBq activity, were designed and constructed to perform such experiments irradiating monolayers of cells. Estimates of dose rate at the cell surface were obtained from measurements by a PIPS alpha-particle spectrometer and from calculations by the SRIM 2000, Monte Carlo charged particle transport code. Particle fluence area distributions were measured by solid state nuclear track detectors. The design and dosimetric characterisation of the devices are discussed. c2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. FQPSK Developments Recommended for CCSDS Standardization by NASA/JPL

In 1992, international space agencies became concerned that increasing frequency band congestion, together with attempts by the mobile telephone industry to obtain additional bandwidth, would result in substantially more interference incidents.

Cluster Node Computing for Target Generation Systems in Aircraft Simulations

Target generation systems provide the positions of aircraft in air traffic simulations. As the scope of the simulation domains expand, there is a need to develop systems that can provide position reports for thousands of aircraft simultaneously and at update rates that support out-the-window visualization. This paper discusses the motivation and reasoning behind investigating development of a next generation target generator through distributed computing using clustered node processing and how a target generation system benefit future research that utilizes human-in-the-loop simulations.

Cluster Node Computing for Target Generation Systems in Aircraft Simulations

Target generation systems provide virtual position and state reports of aircraft for air traffic simulations. As the scope and scale of the simulation domains expand, there is a need to develop systems that can generate position reports for thousands of simulated aircraft simultaneously at high update rates that support out-the-window visualization. This paper discusses the motivation and reasoning behind investigating development of a next generation target generator through distributed computing using clustered node processing and the benefits such a target generation system has on future research that utilizes human-in-the-loop simulations.
