Absolute frequency stabilization of laser oscillator against laser amplifier

Long-term absolute frequency stabilization of a laser oscillator is obtained when the lasers oscillation frequency is referenced to the exact center of an atomic transition. A laser amplifier acts as a discriminant to indicate when the laser frequency deviates from the center of its atomic transistion.

Time domain measurement of frequency stability: A tutorial introduction

The theoretical basis behind the definition of frequency stability in the time domain is outlined. Various types of variances were examined. Their differences and interrelation are pointed out. Systems that are generally used in the measurement of these variances are described.
