Solar power system using hybrid trough and photovoltaic two-stage light concentration

A solar power method is provided using two-stage light concentration to drive concentrating photovoltaic conversion in conjunction with thermal collection. The method concentrates light rays received in a plurality of transverse planes towards a primary linear focus in an axial plane, which is orthogonal to the transverse planes. T band wavelengths of light are transmitted to the primary linear focus. R band wavelengths of light are reflected towards a secondary linear focus in the axial plane, which is parallel to the primary linear focus. The light received at the primary linear focus is translated into thermal energy. The light received at the secondary linear focus is focused by optical elements along a plurality of tertiary linear foci, which are orthogonal to the axial plane. The focused light in each tertiary primary focus is focused into a plurality of receiving areas, and translated into electrical energy.

Ultra-wideband mutual coupling compensation of active electronically scanned arrays in multi-channel radar systems

Technologies pertaining to the calibration of ultra-wide-band active-electronically-scanned arrays to compensate for transmit and receive mutual coupling between array elements and/or non-ideal isolated channels are described herein. A plurality of near-field measurements are taken by way of probe or probes that may be moved among a plurality of positions aligned with respective elements in the array. For each position of the probe, each of the elements of the array is stimulated to transmit or receive a calibration signal to or from the probe, respectively. Frequency-domain transfer functions are computed from the received signals by the probe or the element for each of the array elements in each of the positions of the probe. The inverse of the matrix of transfer functions comprise frequency-domain transmit and receive correction factors that are used to modify desired array inputs/outputs such that the modified signals correct for mutual coupling between elements in the array.

Reduced number of counters for reliable messaging

A shared memory maintained by sender processes stores a sequence number counter per destination process. A sender process increments the sequence number counter in the shared memory in sending a message to a destination process. The sender process sends a data packet comprising the message and at least a sequence number specified by the sequence number counter. All of the sender processes share a sequence number counter per destination process, each of the sender processes incrementing the sequence number counter in sending a respective message. Receiver processes run on the hardware processor, each of the receiver processes maintaining a local memory counter on the memory, the local memory counter associated with a sending node. The local memory counter stores a sequence number of a message received from the sending node. The receiver process delivers incoming data packets ordered by sequence numbers of the data packets.

Localization based on time-reversed event sounds

A system determines an event location of an event within an indoor environment based on an event sound generated by the event. The system employs time-reversal techniques based on a received event sound to identify the event location as being in the vicinity of one of a plurality of locator devices at locator locations in the environment. The system includes a base array located within the environment that receives an indication that an event has been detected. Upon receiving the event sound, the system generates a time-reversed event sound for each transceiver and transmits via each transceiver the time-reversed event sound for that transceiver. When a locator device receives a time-reversed event sound, the locator device determines whether the event is in the vicinity of that locator location of the locator device and, if so, outputs an indication that the event occurred at that locator location.
