Development of the ISS EMU Dashboard Software

The EMU (Extra-Vehicular Mobility Unit) Dashboard was developed at NASA s Johnson Space Center to aid in real-time mission support for the ISS (International Space Station) and Shuttle EMU space suit by time synchronizing down-linked video, space suit data and audio from the mission control audio loops. Once the input streams are synchronized and recorded, the data can be replayed almost instantly and has proven invaluable in understanding in-flight hardware anomalies and playing back information conveyed by the crew to missions control and the back room support. This paper will walk through the development from an engineer s idea brought to life by an intern to real time mission support and how this tool is evolving today and its challenges to support EVAs (Extra-Vehicular Activities) and human exploration in the 21st century.

Outside The Box: What Would a Scientist Do with a Dashboard?

Growing plants on the International Space Station has always been a challenge, but it is research that must continue in order to support long duration missions. A rotating plant system is now undergoing tests at Kennedy Space Center to help mitigate the challenges of getting water and nutrients effectively to plant roots. Traditionally, lab test data is gathered and presented via spreadsheets which can be confusing and cumbersome to deal with. Using SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards (formerly Xcelsius), see how NASA utilizes this visualization software to help monitor and present a clear picture of the research results.

Improving Navigation Analysis with OD-D: The Visually Interactive Orbit Determination Dashboard

Orbit determination requires iterative analysis with the goal of converging on as accurate of a solution as possible, a process that can be time and labor intensive. To increase the efficiency of this analysis, we provide a diagnostic tool capable of comprehensively displaying multiple orbit determination solutions by leveraging data visualization techniques. This work details the design and visualization decisions made in the creation of the Orbit Determination Dashboard, a tool aimed at giving users an interactive workspace for understanding how changes to input parameters of orbit determination models affect their solutions.

Quantifying the Impact of Transportation on Climate - Energy Analytics Dashboard: Preprint

The investment decisions within the nation's transportation sector have traditionally been prioritized and measured against safety and travel efficiency goals. Increasingly, federal, state, and local policies are requiring consideration of energy use and emissions in the design of our transportation infrastructure. Yet the processes, analytics, and knowledge to include these new metrics into transportation decisions are lacking. Although targeted studies and before and after analysis are performed from time to time, no comprehensive real-time monitoring systems provide energy and emissions to the same level as congestion and safety. To address this gap, this paper developed and demonstrated the Transportation Energy Analytics Dashboard, or TEAD, to raise awareness of the energy and emission impacts to the same level of observability as that of safety and mobility concerns.

Offshore Advanced Infrastructure Integrity Model (AIIM) Dashboard

The Advanced Infrastructure Integrity Model (AIIM) is a multivariate, multi-machine learning modeling technology applied to evaluate the integrity of offshore energy infrastructure (e.g., pipelines, platforms) in the U.S Gulf Region. Offshore energy infrastructure plays an essential role in ensuring access to safe and secure energy for the United States. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), production in the U.S. Gulf Region accounts for 15% of total crude and 5% of total natural gas from the United States. Many of these structures have been operating for close to or past their design life, while others have the chance of attrition before return on investment. To better understand the potential for reuse or life extension opportunities, an assessment of the infrastructure integrity is critical to inform safe decision making. Assessing structural integrity, AIIM provides key insights that inform infrastructure use and reuse, as well as hazard prevention planning, in support of stakeholders including researchers and industry.

CPGminer: An Interactive Dashboard to Explore the Genomic Features and Taxonomy of Complete Prokaryotic Genomes

Prokaryotes, the earliest forms of life on Earth, play crucial roles in global biogeochemical processes in virtually all ecosystems. The ever-increasing amount of prokaryotic genome sequencing data provides a wealth of information to examine fundamental and applied questions through systematic genome comparison. Genomic features, such as genome size and GC content, and taxonomy-centric genomic features of complete prokaryotic genomes (CPGs) are crucial for various fields of microbial research and education, yet they are often overlooked. Additionally, creating systematically curated datasets that align with research concerns is an essential yet challenging task for wet-lab researchers. In this study, we introduce CPGminer, a user-friendly tool that allows researchers to quickly and easily examine the genomic features and taxonomy of CPGs and curate genome datasets. We also provide several examples to demonstrate its practical utility in addressing descriptive questions.

Inl Open Ondemand Dashboard Applications

Open OnDemand is a software tool that is used to access HPC resources. It provides a framework for organizations to create apps and other additional functionality that may be useful to the organization. This code creates new INL applications. These changes significantly expand upon the functionality originally provided. Due to the extensive functionality that we added, these changes would not be added to the original application but would function as additional applications that other organizations would be able to utilize on their own systems.
