Hiding-in-Plain-Sight (HiPS) Attack on CLIP for Targetted Object Removal from Images

Machine learning models are known to be vulnerable to adversarial attacks, but prior works have mostly focused on single-modalities. With the rise of large multi-modal models (LMMs) like CLIP, which combine vision and language capabilities, new vulnerabilities have emerged. However, these multimodal targeted attacks aim to completely change the model's output to what the adversary wants. In many realistic scenarios, an adversary might seek to make only subtle modifications to the output, so that the changes go unnoticed by downstream models or even by humans. We introduce Hiding-in-Plain-Sight (HiPS) attacks, a novel class of adversarial attacks that subtly modifies model predictions by selectively concealing target object(s), as if the target object was absent from the scene. We propose two HiPS attack variants, HiPS-cls and HiPS-cap, and demonstrate their effectiveness in transferring to downstream image captioning models, such as CLIP-Cap, for targeted object removal from image captions.

Optics tuning of the FCC-ee

The Future Circular Collider, FCC-ee, is a proposed next generation electron-positron collider aiming to provide large luminosities at beam energies from 45.6 up to 182.5 GeV. This collider faces a major challenge to deliver the design performance in the presence of realistic lattice errors. A commissioning strategy has been developed including dedicated optics designs, efficient beam-based alignment and optics corrections based on refined optics measurements. First specifications on main magnets, corrector circuits, and instrumentation have also been investigated. A summary of all these aspects is presented in this paper.

Specifying Calibration of Energy-Measuring Equipment

A report on calibrating energy-measuring equipment to maximize energy efficiency of lighting and other systems. The report describes best practices for accrediting calibration laboratories and for calibrating measuring equipment, compares and contrasts service providers accredited for energy-measuring equipment calibration, presents a tailorable specification template for requesting such calibration, and offers recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
