Mapping Current Collection in Cross Section: The Case of Copper-Doped CdTe Solar Cells

For decades, copper has been used to improve the performance of cadmium telluride thin film solar cells. However, it has also been shown to be the main cause of metastability in CdTe. Recently a low activation energy has been reported for the thermal diffusion of Cu in CdTe explaining the ease of motion that it has under moderate temperatures. The community consensus is that copper segregates to the absorber grain boundaries, where it's either beneficial or detrimental to device performance depending on its concentration. Using nanoscale X-ray micrsocopy and a two-dimensional drift-diffusion model we present a preliminary correlation between local copper distribution and electrical performance of a single-junction CdTe/CdS solar cell.

The application of LANDSAT remote sensing technology to natural resources management. Section 1: Introduction to VICAR - Image classification module. Section 2: Forest resource assessment of Humboldt County.

A teaching module on image classification procedures using the VICAR computer software package was developed to optimize the training benefits for users of the VICAR programs. The field test of the module is discussed. An intensive forest land inventory strategy was developed for Humboldt County. The results indicate that LANDSAT data can be computer classified to yield site specific forest resource information with high accuracy (82%). The "Douglas-fir 80%" category was found to cover approximately 21% of the county and "Mixed Conifer 80%" covering about 13%. The "Redwood 80%" resource category, which represented dense old growth trees as well as large second growth, comprised 4.0% of the total vegetation mosaic. Furthermore, the "Brush" and "Brush-Regeneration" categories were found to be a significant part of the vegetative community, with area estimates of 9.4 and 10.0%.

Lunar and Planetary Science Conference, 12th, Houston, TX, March 16-20, 1981, Proceedings. Section 1 - The moon. Section 2 - Planets, asteroids and satellites

Topics related to the mineralogy and petrology of lunar pristine rocks are considered, along with subjects concerning the mineralogy and geochemistry of lunar breccias. Other studies considered are connected with the lunar regolith, lunar surface geology, and aspects of lunar structure and evolution. Investigations regarding meteorites are reported, and a description is provided of explorations of Mars and Venus, giving attention to regional geology, surface properties, and the composition of Venus. Studies of the Galilean satellites are related to an Io thermal model with intermittent volcanism, the microstructure and particulate properties of the surfaces of Io and Ganymede, the structures on Europa, the sputter-generation of planetary coronae, the tectonic deformation of Galileo Regio and limits to the planetary expansion of Ganymede, and dark-ray craters on Ganymede. Experimental and theoretical studies concerning impact cratering are also considered.
