Fluorine-liquid oxygen disconnect for Atlas launch vehicle oxidizer system
As technology advances, progressive building performance goals are met with ease and occupant behavior plays an increasingly significant role in preventing building operators from achieving those goals. However, removing occupants from participating in building control and operation is counterintuitive to the purpose of building operation. Occupant-centric control (OCC) has been suggested as a means of incorporating the occupant while simultaneously reducing the negative impact their behavior can have on building performance. As a result, operators are now tasked with incorporating OCC into their daily operation. The relationship between building occupants and operators is a critical component to OCC, and balancing occupant comfort and building performance. In this paper, we present findings from an international qualitative study of building operators with a focus on the operator and occupant relationship. This paper identifies the role operators play in OCC, how these relationships develop, and how these relationships impact building operation through two key research questions: What factors influence the quality of relationships between occupants and operators? How can the relationships between operators and occupants be improved? Subsequently, these questions revealed this relationship becomes strained when building performance is prioritized over comfort, occupants are ignored or uneducated, and feedback is negative or sparse. In short: there is a disconnection between operators and occupants. Here we propose several solutions including modifying job requirements to prioritize occupant comfort, educating occupants to make autonomous decisions that are not detrimental to operation, and creating effective communication channels for instances where operator intervention is required.
A key issue affecting the attempt to reduce the uncertainty on the Standard Model prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment is the current discrepancy between lattice-QCD and data-driven results for the hadronic vacuum polarization. Progress on this issue benefits from precise data-driven determinations of the isospin-limit light-quark-connected (lqc) and strange-plus-light-quark-disconnected ( s + lqd ) components of the related RBC/UKQCD windows. In this paper, using a strategy employed previously for the intermediate window, we provide data-driven results for the lqc and s + lqd components of the short- and long-distance RBC/UKQCD windows. Comparing these results with those from the lattice, we find significant discrepancies in the lqc parts but good agreement for the s + lqd components. We also explore the impact of recent CMD- 3 e + e − → π + π − cross section results, demonstrating that an upward shift in the ρ -peak region of the type seen in the CMD-3 data serves to eliminate the discrepancies for the lqc components without compromising the good agreement between lattice and data-driven s + lqd results. This data package is associated with the publication "Organic Matter Transformations are Disconnected Between Surface Water and the Hyporheic Zone" submitted to Biogeosciences (Stegen et al., 2022). The study aims to understand how the diversity of OM transformations varies across surface and subsurface components of river corridors using inland surface water and sediments collected along river corridors across the contiguous United States. Sediment extracts and water samples were analyzed using ultrahigh resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS). This dataset is comprised of one folder (WHONDR_S19S) which contains (1) a subfolder with R scripts used to process the data and to calculate biochemical transformations, (2) processed FTICR-MS data as csv files, sample collection metadata and climate data as csv files, (3) biochemical transformations profile, classifications and database as csv files, and (4) a readme file with more information regarding WHONDRS raw FTICR-MS data and processing scripts. Outside of the main folders there is a csv containing file-level metadata and a csv data dictionary defining column headers for all csv files contained in the data package. The samples were part of a WHONDRS (https://whondrs.pnnl.gov) study. The raw, unprocessed FTICR-MS data with additional data can be found at doi:10.15485/1729719 for sediments and doi:10.15485/1603775 for water. This data package contains the processed data used in the associated manuscript.
The objective of this study is to develop a new computational methodology to predict the motion of grain boundaries in tungsten associated with recrystallization. This approach accounts recently discovered high-temperature grain boundary phases in tungsten and other metals and alloys. This paper reports the initial work in the project that developed a novel technique for molecular dynamics to characterize disconnections, dislocation-like defects in grain boundaries that mediate grain boundary motion. Grain boundary properties are needed for a thermomechanical model of recrystallization of tungsten for magnetic fusion applications.
Actuator assembly disconnects electric cable and fluid-line coupling from a rocket. The disconnector incorporates interconnected hydraulic cylinders which effect an equal and simultaneous displacement of pistons upon admission of compressed air through a solenoid control valve.
Compression type solderless connector is easily disconnected and reassembled and resists vibration. The connector, which uses a tapered split sleeve that is tightened by a nut into a mating bug, is used in place of standard solder lugs and to connect unsolderable wire.
Line adapter acts as quick and simple disconnect system. It quickly separates upon the application of a side load of 15 pounds with standing line pressure at 100 psig.

Coupling device enables a rigid shaft to be connected to or disconnected from a fixed base without disturbing the point of adjustment of the shaft in a socket or causing the shaft to rotate. The coupling consists of an externally threaded, internally slotted boss extending from the fixed base.
Contamination of sensitive equipment when squibs are fired is prevented by O-rings which retain the debris of squib discharge within the disconnect device.
Coupling for pressurized hoses handles gas or liquid, is easily purged, and automatically seals the hose when disconnected. Volatile or toxic materials can be isolated before the connection is broken. This device may interest food processors and manufacturers of fluid delivery systems.

Hydraulic disconnect coupling on ground serving half of spacecraft refrigeration cooling system employs movable center stem for venting and closing nipple poppet. Self sealing poppet quickly connects cooling system to spacecraft without manual work. Recessed sealing surface insures open poppet when stem retracts.
Disconnect device is described, which consists of stud with enlarged end held in collet locked by pins, which are held in place by piston. When squib is fired, trapped combustion products force piston to release pins.
