Quick Look Report of Godiva U233 shot March 2022 Data Collection Activities

This report discussing the March 2022 irradiation of U233 on the Godiva critical assembly using burst mode and subsequent analysis of the fission products starting at 65 minutes post irradiation, and ending 12 days later. The Short-Lived Fission Product Yield (SLFPY) project is one of many efforts under the Nuclear Physics Multi-Lab and related Venture Project. The objective of the SLFPY project is to provide improved measurements of fission product yields for select nuclides. The SLFPY project consists of measurement and analysis campaigns. To produce fission data, samples of actinide material are irradiated in a high-flux neutron environment. These samples are quickly placed in front of a detection system where both gamma singles and coincidence spectra are collected as a function of time. Gamma spectroscopy is performed on the irradiated material on site near the irradiation facility, starting as soon as feasible after the irradiation and continuing for 7 days or longer. Following the data collection, time-dependent fission yield analyses are performed using gamma-ray spectroscopy. This document summarizes the measurement campaign performed March 21 - April 4, 2022 where sub-gram quantities of 233 U nitrate (UO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 ) were irradiated in the Godiva reactor. The Godiva burst #2076 conducted under experiment IER 504 had a temperature change of +156 degrees Celsius, lasted 13.32 microseconds, and had a reactivity of $\$$1.089. The targets consisted of uranium oxide solution deposited in a quartz tube and packed with quartz wool. The flame-sealed quartz ampoules were used to contain the uranium samples for the irradiation and count activities. On March 22, 2022, at 10:27:00 a.m. the three uranium ampoules, along with a witness foil pack, were irradiated in the Godiva critical assembly using burst mode operations.

DAQs Quick Start Guide

DAQs is a Windows® computer app designed to communicate with the Advanced List Mode Module (ALMM), MC-15, and instrumentation based off these platforms. The ALMM communicates with DAQS over the Ethernet using TCP/IP. If you register the IPv4 address of the ALMM on the local network the ALMM can be operated remotely. However, if the ALMM is not connected to the local network then the computer running DAQs will need to be connected directly to the ALMM or an additional Ethernet adapter will need to be installed on the acquisition computer. The IPv4 address can be changed in the rei.ini file located on the µSD card. Please see the appendices for more information on the rei.ini file. This document is intended to be a quick start guide on how to get an ALMM connected to a computer and how to start a data acquisition. DAQs has much more capability than is presented in this document.

Storage Sizing and Placement Simulation: Quick-Start Case Study User’s Guide

The Storage Sizing and Placement Simulation (SSIM) application allows a user to define the possible sizes and locations of energy storage elements on an existing grid model defined in OpenDSS. Given these possibilities, the software will automatically search through them and attempt to determine which configurations result in the best overall grid performance. This quick-start guide will go through, in detail, the creation of an SSIM model based on a modified version of the IEEE 34 bus test feeder system. There are two primary parts of this document. The first is a complete list of instructions with little-to-no explanation of the meanings of the actions requested. The second is a detailed description of each input and action stating the intent and effect of each. There are links between the two sections.

A Quick Look at the 3 GHz Radio Sky. II. Hunting for DRAGNs in the VLA Sky Survey

Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) can often be identified in radio images as two lobes, sometimes connected to a core by a radio jet. This multicomponent morphology unfortunately creates difficulties for source finders, leading to components that are (a) separate parts of a wider whole, and (b) offset from the multiwavelength cross identification of the host galaxy. In this work we define an algorithm, DRAGN HUNTER , for identifying double radio sources associated with AGNs (DRAGNs) from component catalog data in the first epoch Quick Look images of the high-resolution (≈3" beam size) Very Large Array Sky Survey (VLASS). We use DRAGN HUNTER to construct a catalog of >17,000 DRAGNs in VLASS for which contamination from spurious sources is estimated at ≈11%. A “high-fidelity” sample consisting of 90% of our catalog is identified for which contamination is <3%. Host galaxies are found for ≈13,000 DRAGNs as well as for an additional 234,000 single-component radio sources. Using these data, we explore the properties of our DRAGNs, finding them to be typically consistent with Fanaroff–Riley class II sources and to allow us to report the discovery of 31 new giant radio galaxies identified using VLASS.

Double-throw microwave device switches two lines quickly

By combining a single-throw microwave switch with a microwave circulator in a circuit, two input lines can be switched quickly. There is only a brief transition time when both /or neither/ of the two lines are connected to an output line.

Quick-disconnect coupling safe transfer of hazardous fluids

Quick-disconnect coupling is used for uncoupling of plumbing during ground-to-vehicle transfer of cryogenic and hazardous fluids. The coupling allows remote positive control of liquid pressure and flow during the transfer operation, remote connection and separation capabilities, and negligible liquid spillage upon disconnection.

Fastener provides for bolt misalignment and quick release of flange

Fastener enables two large flanges to be bolted together without close alignment between the bolt and bolt-hole diameters, and provides for a quick release of one of the flanges under emergency conditions. It contains a nut that is retained by a square head in a recess in one side of the removable flange and by a collar and snap ring on the other side of the flange.

Quick-response servo amplifies small hydraulic pressure differences

Hydraulic servo, which quickly diverts fluid to either of two actuators, controls the flow rates and pressures within a hydraulic system so that the output force of the servo system is independent of the velocity of the mechanism which the system actuates. This servo is a dynamic feedback control device.

Connector acts as quick coupling in coaxial cable application

Quick-coupling connector whose inner shells are threaded to the cable ends and whose outer shells have tracks that register in channels machined in the inner shells are rotated 45 deg to effect a locking of the coupling. This connector faithfully reproduces excellent electrical characteristics no matter how frequently assembled and disassembled.
