Passive Stabilization of Rotating Tethered Spacecraft
Rotating Spacecrafts can provide artificial gravity for long-term space missions, but the design of a Guidance and Control scheme for these vehicles is nuanced. For a three-segment vehicle with the propulsion element located at the center of mass, the vehicle must stabilize itself about this point even in the event of various off-nominal circumstances. Thus, a robust and passive spin stabilization system is needed. In this paper, various methods for stabilizing the system to allow for the exchange of mass and air between elements are explored and simulated.

Maneuverable Automated Tethered Space Tug Simulator
This TIP will develop autonomous capabilities for the space tugs in the Flat Floor Robotics Laboratory (FFRL) for use in support of In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) and future vehicles in the FFRL. The space tugs would be housed on larger spacecraft, such as ISS or Gateway, and deployed for various ISAM activities. When these activities are complete, the space tug can be reeled back to its host spacecraft.
Interactions Between Landslides, the Mining Industry, and the Communities Tethered to This Industry in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa
The nature of the hilly and insecure terrain of the mining industry can also be home to numerous landslides that impact the lives of those dependent on this economy for survival. However, the connections between localized landslides in the mining sector and impacts to lives and livelihoods are often overlooked. This research focuses on the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality of the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa where frequent summer rains along with the steep terrain leads to abundant number of landslides. The mining analysis was performed within the eThekwini Municipality, while the entirety of KwaZulu-Natal Province was considered for the societal impact research.

Polymerase-tethered nucleoside triphosphates for use in nucleic acid synthesis
Provided herein, among other things, is a conjugate comprising a polymerase and a nucleoside triphosphate, where the polymerase and the nucleoside triphosphate are covalently linked via a linker that comprises a cleavable linkage. A set of such conjugates, where the conjugates correspond to G, A, T (or U) and C is also provided. Methods for synthesizing a nucleic acid of a defined sequence are also provided. The conjugates can also be used for sequencing applications.
