Improving aircraft simulations for pilot training in loss-of-control and stalled conditions is one goal of NASA research in the System Wide Safety Program. One part of this effort is to develop appropriate generic aerodynamic models that provide representative responses in simulation for a given class of aircraft. In this part of the flight envelope nonlinear unsteady responses are often present and may require an extended aerodynamic model compared to that used in the conventional flight envelope. In this preliminary study, two objectives are addressed. First, to obtain a representative model for a NASA generic aircraft at an unsteady condition in the flight envelope and second, to evaluate the techniques involved. To meet these objectives, two different generic aircraft configurations are modeled using both experimental and analytical data. With these results, an initial assessment of the efficiency and quality of the tools and test techniques are evaluated to develop guidance for analytical and experimental approaches to unsteady modeling.
The Deep space One Project is the first advanced technology validation mission that is part of the New Millennium Program sponsored by the Natioanl Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

A method of managing thermal levels in a memory system may include determining an expected thermal level associated with each of a plurality of locations in a memory structure, and for each operation of a plurality of operations addressed to the memory structure, assigning the operation to a target location of the plurality of physical locations in the memory structure based on a thermal penalty associated with the operation and the expected thermal level associated with the target location.

A reconfigurable computing platform includes a reconfigurable computing device, electro-optical transceiver, and first voltage converter disposed on a multilayer board. The electro-optical transceiver converts an optical signal at least one of to and from an electrical signal, and the electrical signal is operatively coupled to the reconfigurable computing device. The electro-optical transceiver is disposed in proximity to the reconfigurable computing device, and the first voltage converter is operatively coupled to a common voltage distributed around a periphery of the multilayer board. The first voltage converter converts the common voltage to a first operating voltage, and the first voltage converter is disposed in proximity to the reconfigurable computing device. The first operating voltage is provided to the reconfigurable computing device as a first power source. A reconfigurable computing system includes a plurality of reconfigurable computing platforms operatively coupled together using an optical signal. A corresponding method of providing a reconfigurable computing platform is also disclosed.
