In-situ construction of ceria-metal/titanate heterostructure with controllable architectures for efficient fuel electrochemical conversion

Construction of ceria-metal/titanate heterostructure via exsolution is a promising strategy to improve the catalytic activity of titanate perovskites and broaden their applications in various energy conversion scenarios. However, the species exsolved after reduction are limited to reducible metal cations, such as Ni, Co, Fe, and precious metals. Herein, we report a modified exsolution approach for co-exsolving active oxides and metal nanoparticles from a titanate perovskite, La 0.8 Ce 0.1 Ni 0.4 Ti 0.6 O 3-δ (LCeNT). We highlight strained facet-specific CeO 2 cubes can be grown on the support after an air-annealing process with their morphology tunable by varying annealing temperature, whilst exsolution of Ni nanoparticles form subsequently following chemical/electrical reduction. An electrolyte-supported SOFC utilizing CeO 2 -Ni@LCeNT anode achieves maximum power density of 642 mW cm -2 at 900 °C in H 2 (~3% H 2 O). Exceptional robustness of the heterostructure is illustrated after running the cell in CH 4 (~3% H 2 O) for 20 h. Here this work demonstrates an intriguing pathway to constructing stable and active ceria-metal/titanate heterostructure for energy applications.

Modular Control Architecture for Scalable, Resilient, and Cybersecure Microgrids Test Results [Mojave firmware 1.09 FW valuation]

This quick note outlines what we found after our conversion with you and your team. As suggested, we loaded 1547-2003 source requirements document (SRD) and then went back and loaded 1547-2018 SRD. This did result in implementing the new 1547-2018 settings. This short report focuses on the frequency-watt function and shows a couple of screen shots of the parameter settings via the Mojave HMI interface and plots of the results of the inverter with FW function enabled in both default and most aggressive settings response to frequency events. The first screen shot shows the 1547-2018 selected after selecting 1547-2003.

Pore architecture controls on mineral reactivity

Mineral dissolution rates measured in natural environments are much slower than those measured in laboratory settings. This project tested the hypothesis that the way fluid flows through rocks in natural systems creates areas where mineral dissolution is fast and areas where mineral dissolution is slow. This hypothesis was tested with a combination of laboratory experiments and numerical simulation. We demonstrated a separation of fluid flow pathways and rates of mineral dissolution in laboratory experiments for the first time using an experimental approach where we created synthetic rocks that have different ratios of connected and dead-end pathways for fluid flow. In laboratory experiments with higher proportions of dead-end pathways, the mineral dissolution rates were slower. We found that where fluid flows through connected pathways the continuous refreshing of fluid at the mineral surface creates conditions where dissolution is fast. In contrast, where fluid either flows slowly through poorly connected pathways or is stagnant in dead-end pathways, mineral dissolution is slow. The results from this project suggest that the overall slowing of rates of mineral dissolution is important when the proportion of dead-end pathways is greater than ~40%. This project informs our understanding of the way that fluids react with rocks in carbon dioxide sequestration and enhanced geothermal projects where fluids are purposefully injected into rocks for energy applications.

Electromagnetic energy coupling mechanism with matrix architecture control

The present invention relates generally to reconfigurable, solid-state matrix arrays comprising multiple rows and columns of reconfigurable secondary mechanisms that are independently tuned. Specifically, the invention relates to reconfigurable devices comprising multiple, solid-state mechanisms characterized by at least one voltage-varied parameter disposed within a flexible, multi-laminate film, which are suitable for use as magnetic conductors, ground surfaces, antennas, varactors, ferrotunable substrates, or other active or passive electronic mechanisms.
