Fixture facilitates helium leak testing of pipe welds

Fixture facilitates inspection testing of circumferential pipe welds for vacuum tightness, using helium gas as a leakage tracer in conjunction with a mass spectrometer. It consists of a split rubber torus and a mating clamping ring with a vacuum hose fitting.

Development of biaxial test fixture includes cryogenic application

Test fixture has the capability of producing biaxial stress fields in test specimens to the point of failure. It determines biaxial stress by dividing the applied load by the net cross section. With modification it can evaluate materials, design concepts, and production hardware at cryogenic temperatures.

Fixture facilitates soldering operations

Soldering fixture, designed for printed circuit cards, is a basic bench-mounted, self-contained integral unit combining all soldering needs into a compact, readily available work station. All tools, materials, and accessories are available to provide an ideal station to perform critical soldering.

Tape reading fixture

Commercially available roller type desk pad provides an efficient and orderly manner of handling rolled paper tapes for proofreading. The fixture, which is modified to accept Flex-O-Writer or similar tapes and roll them in either direction, reduces the chance of damaging or soiling the tapes through repeated handling.

Test fixture insures high degree of accuracy in flexure tests

Modified die set improves accuracy in load application, minimizes problems of parallelism, and eliminates testing errors normally encountered during flexure tests. Test results are given for a comparison test of the old and new fixtures.

Review of mechanical vibration tests conducted on control moment gyros and life test fixtures

Experimental vibration studies performed on a number of flight control moment gyros and bearing life test fixtures are summarized. Tests were performed at MSFC, at Wyle Laboratories, Huntsville, Alabama, and at the Bendix Corporation facilities in Teterboro, New Jersey. A description of test and analysis equipment is included as well as test procedures and overall performance rankings. Advanced ultrasonic rolling element bearing fault detection techniques were applied for bearing analysis along with conventional vibration and sound analysis procedures.

High Temperature Strain Gage Calibration Fixture

An apparatus and method are described for calibrating high temperature strain gases which serve for both dead weight and constant deflection measurements. A cantilever support arm allows the test unit to slide into a furnace while one end is subjected to bending strain either by hanging weights upon it or by deflecting it with a push rod. The dual nature of the fixture permits both tests to be run without change of the test specimen or removal from the furnace.
