Data for "Plasmon-driven exciton formation in a non-equilibrium Fermi liquid"

This repository contains source data for key plots presented in the manuscript "Plasmon-driven exciton formation in a non-equilibrium Fermi liquid." Experimental data that was analyzed in Igor Pro 8 are presented as the .pxp files used to generate individual sub-plots. Electronic spectral function calculations are provided as .txt files, in which consecutive rows refer to the meshgrid x coordinate, y coordinate, spectral function (and, where relevant, axis-projected local angular momentum). We additionally include the Wannier model and DFT-obtained bulk band structure on which the Wannier model was based. Files are named as the number of the figure in the manuscript to which they correspond, with additional details included where necessary. Details of file names: 2a_DOS_Lxz_Ek_KGM_40layer_xnum_800kpt_tot.txt: Density of states, xz-axis projected local orbital angular momentum, for 800 points along the K-Gamma-M path, for a 40-layer model. 2c_composite_y.pxp: ARPES (angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy) spectra along the ky axis, including both a scan near the Fermi level and a scan at high kinetic energies. 2d_LCP_RCP_diff_Sect_20K.pxp: difference between ARPES constant energy cuts at T=20 K at E0 + 0.23 eV taken with left- and right-circularly polarized photons. The polarization-integrated intensity at the constant energy cut is also included. 2e_DOS_L45_E11pt79_m0pt25to0pt25_xnum_800kpt_tot.txt: Density of states, xz-projected local orbital angular momentum, and corresponding k-points in two dimensions from ab-initio electronic structure calculations for a constant-energy cut. 3a_[x]_[y]ps: ARPES cut under excitation at a fluence of x uJ/cm2, measured y ps after photoexcitation. Measurements were performed at 9 K. 3b_[x]: Energy distribution curves under excitation at a fluence x uJ/cm2 at selected delay times after photoexcitation. 4a_ImSigma_vs_temperature.pxp: Imaginary self energy (extracted from ARPES linewidths) at different energies above E0 for selected lattice temperatures. 4b_EELS_lowE.pxp: Electron energy loss spectrum over a low energy range 5b_diff_55m15.pxp: Difference between momentum-integrated Tr-ARPES traces at 55 uJ/cm2 and 15 uJ/cm2 photoexcitation. Time-dependent intensity at each energy level has been normalized to a maximum of 1 for each individual fluence prior to subtraction. 5d_invtau_at_EX_vs_fluence.pxp: decay rate at a specified energy EX for different excitation fluences, from single exponential fits. NOTE: Analyses based on the Wannier model presented here should cite both the associated Article and this dataset. For all other files in the repository, citing the dataset alone is sufficient.

The Nascent Milliquasar VT J154843.06+220812.6: Tidal Disruption Event or Extreme Accretion State Change?

We present a detailed multiwavelength follow-up of the nuclear radio flare VT J154843.06+220812.6, hereafter VT J1548. VT J1548 was selected as a ~1 mJy radio flare in 3 GHz observations from the Very Large Array Sky Survey. It is located in the nucleus of a low-mass ($\mathrm{log}{M}_{\mathrm{BH}}/{M}_{\odot }\sim 6$) host galaxy with weak or no past active galactic nuclei (AGN) activity. VT J1548 is associated with a slow rising (multiple year), bright mid-IR flare in the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer survey, peaking at ~10%L edd. . No associated optical transient is detected, although we cannot rule out a short, early optical flare given the limited data available. Constant late-time (~3 yr post-flare) X-ray emission is detected at ~10 42 erg s –1 . The radio spectral energy distribution is consistent with synchrotron emission from an outflow incident on an asymmetric medium. A follow-up, optical spectrum shows transient, bright, high-ionization coronal line emission ([Fe xi] λ6375, [Fe xi] λ7894, [S xii] λ7612). Transient broad Hα is also detected but without corresponding broad Hβ emission, suggesting high nuclear extinction. We interpret this event as either a tidal disruption event or an extreme flare of an AGN, in both cases obscured by a dusty torus. Although these individual properties have been observed in previous transients, the combination is unprecedented. This event highlights the importance of searches across all wave bands for assembling a sample of nuclear flares that spans the range of observable properties and possible triggers.

MIGHTEE: total intensity radio continuum imaging and the COSMOS/XMM-LSS Early Science fields

ABSTRACT MIGHTEE is a galaxy evolution survey using simultaneous radio continuum, spectropolarimetry, and spectral line observations from the South African MeerKAT telescope. When complete, the survey will image ∼20 deg2 over the COSMOS, E-CDFS, ELAIS-S1, and XMM-Newton Large Scale Structure field (XMM-LSS) extragalactic deep fields with a central frequency of 1284 MHz. These were selected based on the extensive multiwavelength data sets from numerous existing and forthcoming observational campaigns. Here, we describe and validate the data processing strategy for the total intensity continuum aspect of MIGHTEE, using a single deep pointing in COSMOS (1.6 deg2) and a three-pointing mosaic in XMM-LSS (3.5 deg2). The processing includes the correction of direction-dependent effects, and results in thermal noise levels below 2 $\mathrm{\mu }$Jy beam−1 in both fields, limited in the central regions by classical confusion at ∼8 arcsec angular resolution, and meeting the survey specifications. We also produce images at ∼5 arcsec resolution that are ∼3 times shallower. The resulting image products form the basis of the Early Science continuum data release for MIGHTEE. From these images we extract catalogues containing 9896 and 20 274 radio components in COSMOS and XMM-LSS, respectively. We also process a close-packed mosaic of 14 additional pointings in COSMOS and use these in conjunction with the Early Science pointing to investigate methods for primary beam correction of broad-band radio images, an analysis that is of relevance to all full-band MeerKAT continuum observations, and wide-field interferometric imaging in general. A public release of the MIGHTEE Early Science continuum data products accompanies this article.
