2023 University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez National Institute for Congestion Reduction Study

# 2023 University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez National Institute for Congestion Reduction Study The 2023 University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez National Institute for Congestion Reduction (NCIR) Study provided insight into the travel patterns and associated energy consumption of participants. Study results helped researchers identify opportunities for the development of policies that could incentivize the use of alternative modes of travel such as transit and micromobility. Such travel modes reduce congestion by reducing the miles traveled by privately owned vehicles in urban and rural areas. The [National Institute for Congestion Reduction](https://nicr.usf.edu/) provides multimodal congestion reduction strategies through real-world deployments that leverage advances in technology, big data science, and innovative transportation options to optimize the efficiency and reliability of the transportation system for all users. ## Data Collection Agency The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez conducted the study. ## Survey Methodology The study was conducted in Spanish. Data collection was enabled via the open-source [NREL OpenPATH platform](https://www.nrel.gov/transportation/openpath). The resulting dataset consists of partially automated travel diaries—combining sensed and surveyed data reflecting patterns of multimodal, end-to-end, individual human mobility—as well as demographic and socioeconomic information from the 17 participants. ## Survey Records, Data, and Documentation Study records include 17 participants. The total number of trips was 458 and total non-air-miles traveled was approximately 1,469.

# 2024 University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez Civic Innovation Challenge Study The 2024 University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez Civic Innovation Challenge (CIVIC) Study provided insight into the travel patterns and associated energy consumption of participants. Study results helped researchers identify opportunities for the development of shared mobility strategies—such as collaborative ride-sharing programs—that could address the mobility needs of rural communities in Puerto Rico. The Civic Innovation Challenge is a multiagency, federal government research and action competition that funds ready-to-implement, research-based pilot projects that have the potential for scalable, sustainable, and transferable impact on community-identified priorities. ## Data Collection Agency The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez conducted the study. ## Survey Methodology The study was conducted in Spanish. Data collection was enabled via the open-source [NREL OpenPATH platform](https://www.nrel.gov/transportation/openpath). The resulting dataset consists of partially automated travel diaries—combining sensed and surveyed data reflecting patterns of multimodal, end-to-end, individual human mobility—as well as demographic and socioeconomic information from the 31 participants. ## Survey Records, Data, and Documentation Survey records include 31 participants. The total number of trips was 1,373 and the total non-air-miles traveled was approximately 8,260.

Utah FORGE: Fault Shear Reactivation Experimental Data for Fluid Injection-Rate Controls on Seismic Moment

Included are experimental data recorded from shear experiments that specifically explore the link between fluid-injection rate and seismic moment resulting from shear reactivation of laboratory faults. Raw mechanical data from three experiments are included alongside corresponding MATLAB scripts that import and plot the data, as well as use it to calculate shear and normal stress. Experiments are performed on 2.5-3 inch long granitoid cores from the Utah FORGE EGS demonstration site, containing a single inclined fracture with small-scale roughness added to the fracture surface. The raw data included here were recorded from an aluminum triaxial pressure vessel (TEMCO) configured with three independent servo-controlled pumps, with distilled water used as the working fluid. The pumps control confining pressure, upstream pore pressure, and axial pressure, with each pump connected to a LabView interface to record applied pressures, cumulative injected water volumes, and pump flow rates. The downstream outlet from the fracture is closed to allow pressurization, which is measured by an external pressure transducer. A linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) attached to the axial piston measures axial displacement, from which we calculate shear displacement along the fracture. Additionally, P-wave transducers are used to record acoustic signatures, where acoustic emission events and maximum amplitudes are compared against seismic moment and shear slip velocity. Fluid injection rates range between 0.05 mL/min, 0.25 mL/min, and 0.75 mL/min for each experiment. Along-fault pressure distributions are progressively less uniform as injection rates increase, representing a switch from steady-state to transient conditions. Triggered shear displacement is used as a proxy for seismic moment and is indexed against cumulative injection volume and rate. Each experiment is performed under constant shear stress conditions, and the sample is fully saturated with DI water. Axial and confining stresses are applied to 3 MPa through pressure-stepping in 500 kPa increments. The pore pressure is held constant at 200 kPa prior to initiating the experiment, and initial axial displacement is recorded. The axial stress is then increased to initiate shear mobilization during the loading phase (run-in) until a peak steady state is achieved. The initial shear stress is reduced to approximately 80% of the peak shear stress by decreasing the axial stress, then held constant for the duration of each experiment.

First observation of Λ c + → Λ K + π 0 and evidence of Λ c + → Λ K + π + π −

We present the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λ c + → Λ K + π 0 with a significance of 5.7 σ and the first evidence of Λ c + → Λ K + π + π − decay with a significance of 3.1 σ , based on e + e − annihilation data recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6.4 fb − 1 , in the center-of-mass energy range from 4.600 to 4.950 GeV. We determine the branching fractions of Λ c + → Λ K + π 0 and Λ c + → Λ K + π + π − relative to their Cabibbo-favored counterparts to be B ( Λ c + → Λ K + π 0 ) B ( Λ c + → Λ π + π 0 ) = ( 2.09 ± 0.3 9 stat ± 0.0 7 syst ) × 10 − 2 and B ( Λ c + → Λ K + π + π − ) B ( Λ c + → Λ π + π + π − ) = ( 1.13 ± 0.4 1 stat ± 0.0 6 syst ) × 10 − 2 , respectively. Moreover, by combining our measured result with the world average of B ( Λ c + → Λ π + π 0 ) , we obtain the branching fraction B ( Λ c + → Λ K + π 0 ) = ( 1.49 ± 0.2 7 stat ± 0.0 5 syst ± 0.0 8 ref ) × 10 − 3 . This result significantly departs from theoretical predictions based on quark S U ( 3 ) flavor symmetry, which is underpinned by the presumption of meson pair S -wave amplitude dominance. 2003 Interstate 595 Vehicle Trip-Length Study

# 2003 Interstate 595 Vehicle Trip-Length Study The 2003 Vehicle Trip-Length Study focused on Interstate 595 between Davie Road and University Drive in Florida. Survey participants answered questions about their trip's origin and destination—including the type of location such as work, home, store, etc.—the on- and off-ramps used, how many people were in the car, and the type of vehicle. The survey also collected household demographic data such as annual household income, available vehicles, the number of people living in their household, and the number of workers in their household above the age of 16. It also asked if they would use proposed bus-only lanes or train service along the corridor, if available. ## Data Collection Agency The survey was conducted by and for the Florida Department of Transportation. ## Survey Methodology The survey was conducted via mail and online in March 2003. ## Survey Records, Data, and Documentation Survey records include 7,917 participants. Origin and destination locations include street addresses, nearest intersections or landmarks, city, state, zip code, and latitude/longitude.
