Generalized parton distributions through universal moment parameterization: zero skewness case

We present a global analysis program for the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) based on conformal moment expansion. We apply the strategy of universal moment parameterization to fit both the collinear parton distribution functions (PDFs) from phenomenology and generalized form factors from lattice calculations, and show that the parameterization is flexible enough to accommodate these constraints. In addition, we can also fit direct lattice calculations of GPDs from large-momentum effective theory. In this work we focus on the analysis of t-dependent PDFs which correspond to GPDs in the ξ → 0 limit. The strategy also applies to the ξ ≠ 0 region with extra parameters, and therefore can be fitted to experimental observables in the future. With a demonstrative example of fitted GPDs, we exhibit the quark transverse angular momentum densities of the proton as well as the impact parameter space distributions of quarks in both unpolarized and transversely polarized protons.

Skew-Symmetric adjacency matrices for clustering directed graphs

Graph clustering methods often critically rely on the symmetry of graph matrices. Developing analogous methods for digraphs often proves more challenging, because digraph matrices are typically asymmetric and not orthogonally diagonalizable. However, researchers have recently proposed several complex-valued Hermitian digraph matrices. In particular, one such representation has been utilized as an input to an algorithm for finding imbalanced cuts. In this work, we establish an algebraic relationship between this matrix and an associated real-valued matrix. We show using this real-valued matrix for imbalanced cut-finding algorithms is not only sufficient but advantageous. Our algorithm uses less memory and asymptotically less computation while provably preserving solution quality. We also show our method can be easily implemented using standing computational building blocks, possesses better numerical properties, and loans itself to a natural interpretation via an objective function relaxation argument. We empirically demonstrate these advantages on real world data sets and show how our algorithm can uncover meaningful cluster structure.

Combining lattice QCD and phenomenological inputs on generalised parton distributions at moderate skewness

Abstract We present a systematic study demonstrating the impact of lattice QCD data on the extraction of generalised parton distributions (GPDs). For this purpose, we use a previously developed modelling of GPDs based on machine learning techniques fulfilling the theoretical requirements of polynomiality, a form of positivity constraint and known reduction limits. A special care is given to estimate the uncertainty stemming from the ill-posed character of the connection between GPDs and the experimental processes usually considered to constrain them, like deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS). Moke lattice QCD data inputs are included in a Bayesian framework to a prior model based on an Artificial Neural Network. This prior model is fitted to reproduce the most experimentally accessible information of a phenomenological extraction by Goloskokov and Kroll. We highlight the impact of the precision, correlation and kinematic coverage of lattice data on GPD extraction at moderate $$\xi $$ ξ which has only been brushed in the literature so far, paving the way for a joint extraction of GPDs.

Determination of quadric equation coefficients describing three-dimensional surfaces, their constraint and skewed planes, and view point areas

Mathematical model and a digital computer BLITZ language programming technique computes coefficients of quadric equations describing cylinders, paraboloids, ellipsoids, or planes with any orientation to a reference system, coordinates of a vector, and coefficients of quadric surfaces which limit the surface of three-dimensional space.

Mutual impedance of nonplanar-skew sinusoidal dipoles

The mutual impedance expressions for parallel dipoles in terms of sine-integrals and cosine-integrals have been published by King (1957). The investigation reported provides analogous expressions for nonparallel dipoles. The expressions presented are most useful when the monopoles are close together. The theory of moment methods shows an approach for employing the mutual impedance of filamentary sinusoidal dipoles to calculate the impedance and scattering properties of straight and bent wires with small but finite diameter.
