T -matrix analysis of static Wilson line correlators from lattice QCD at finite temperature

Here, we utilize a previously constructed thermodynamic T -matrix approach to the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) to derive constaints on its input by using results on Wilson line correlators (WLCs) of a static quark-antiquark pair from 2 + 1-flavor lattice-QCD (lQCD) computations with realistic pion mass. The self-consistent T -matrix results, which include previous constraints from the lQCD equation of state in the light-parton sector, can describe the lQCD data for WLCs fairly well once refinements of its driving kernel are applied. In particular, the input potential requires less screening than what has been inferred from previous T-matrix analyses. Pertinent predictions for the spectral and transport properties of the QGP are discussed, including the spatial diffusion coefficient for heavy quarks; the latter turns out to have a rather weak temperature dependence, in approximate agreement with recent unquenched lQCD results.

The static nonlinear analysis of shells of revolution (SNASOR II)

Utilizing stiffness matrices and supplying as input the loading and boundary conditions, program generates equilibrium equations for structure. Nonlinear strain energy terms result in pseudogeneralized forces which are combined with applied generalized forces. Resulting set of nonlinear algebraic equilibrium equations is solved by one of several methods.

Nonlinear static TPS analysis

A nonlinear analysis which includes the effect of mismatch and filler bar was developed to predict the strain isolator pad reuseable surface insulation through-the-thickness interface stresses. Parametric studies were conducted for simulated shock loading on square tiles. Expected loads on an actual tile were also studied. The results indicate that when no mismatch is present, linear solutions tend to give nonconservative maximum stresses relative to the nonlinear solutions. When mismatch is present, the linear maximum stresses are only conservative at low load levels and highly nonconservative at high load levels. Although the presence of filler bar reduces maximum tensile stresses in some cases, it does not appear that the nominal dimension filler bar can reduce the nonlinear stress to a level at which the linear solution becomes conservative relative to the nonlinear solution. Moreover, on an outboard trailing edge elevon tile at descent with +20 deg flap, the linear analysis is 49% nonconservative relative to the nonlinear analysis with filler bar.

SPAR reference manual update SPAR level 15

Command runstream elements are presented for analyzing structural systems that are composed of a number of cyclically symmetrical sectors. Provisions are included for systems in which each cyclically symmetrical sector also possesses a plane of reflective symmetry. The following types of analysis may be performed: static analysis with and without preload, vibrational analysis with and without preload, and buckling analysis with and without preload.

Application of a transonic potential flow code to the static aeroelastic analysis of three-dimensional wings

Since the aerodynamic theory is nonlinear, the method requires the coupling of two iterative processes - an aerodynamic analysis and a structural analysis. A full potential analysis code, FLO22, is combined with a linear structural analysis to yield aerodynamic load distributions on and deflections of elastic wings. This method was used to analyze an aeroelastically-scaled wind tunnel model of a proposed executive-jet transport wing and an aeroelastic research wing. The results are compared with the corresponding rigid-wing analyses, and some effects of elasticity on the aerodynamic loading are noted.

Application of a transonic potential flow code to the static aeroelastic analysis of three-dimensional wings

A method for including elastic effects in steady, transonic wing analysis is presented. Since the aerodynamic theory is nonlinear, the method requires the coupling of two iterative processes - an aerodynamic analysis and a structural analysis. A full potential analysis code, FL022, is combined with a linear structural analysis to yield aerodynamic load distributions on and deflections of elastic wings. This method was used to analyze an aeroelastically-scaled wind tunnel model of a proposed executive-jet transport wing and an aeroelastic research wing. The results are compared with the corresponding rigid-wing analyses, and some effects of elasticity on the aerodynamic loading are noted.

Differential stiffness effects

Differential stiffness as developed in NASTRAN is a linear change in stiffness caused by applied loads. Examples of differential stiffness are the stiffening effects of gravity forces in a pendulum, centrifugal forces in rotor blades and pressure loading of shell structures. In cases wherein this stiffness caused by a load is destabilizing, the differential stiffness concept lends itself to nonlinear structural analysis. Rigid Formats 4 (static analysis with differential stiffness) and 13 (normal modes with differential stiffness) are specifically designed to account for such stiffness changes. How pressure loading may be treated in these rigid formats is clarified. This clarification results from modal correlation of Ground Vibration Test (GVT) results from the empty and pressurized Filament Wound Case (FWC) quarter-scale Space Shuttle solid rocket booster (QSSRB). A sketch of the QSSRB cantilevered to the floor by its external tank attachments is shown.

A comparative analysis of static and dynamic load balancing strategies

The problem of uniformly distributing the load of a parallel program over a multiprocessor system was considered. A program was analyzed whose structure permits the computation of the optimal static solution. Then four strategies for load balancing were described and their performance compared. The strategies are: (1) the optimal static assignment algorithm which is guaranteed to yield the best static solution, (2) the static binary dissection method which is very fast but suboptimal, (3) the greedy algorithm, a static fully polynomial time approximation scheme, which estimates the optimal solution to arbitrary accuracy, and (4) the predictive dynamic load balancing heuristic which uses information on the precedence relationships within the program and outperforms any of the static methods. It is also shown that the overhead incurred by the dynamic heuristic is reduced considerably if it is started off with a static assignment provided by either of the three strategies.

Applies to models specified in part by possibly interconnected elliptic partial differential equations for deflections of structures under static loads. Appropriate for systems in which time-dependent effects negligibleand where control forces applied without exciting significiant dynamic behavior.

A shear deformable theory of laminated composite shallow shell-type panels and their response analysis. II - Static response

In the second part of this paper, by using the static counterparts of the governing equations derived in Librescu (1989), the static response of shallow composite shell-type panels subjected to a sinusoidal transverse load is investigated. The numerical applications, encompassing a large number of boundary conditions and various lamination schemes, allow one to obtain some conclusions which are formulated in the paper.

A note on the performance analysis of static locking in distributed database systems

Even though transaction deadlocks can severely affect the performance of distributed database systems, many current evaluation techniques ignore this aspect. Shyu and Li proposed an evaluation method which takes deadlocks into consideration. However, their technique is limited to exclusive locking. Using this technique, researchers illustrate the impact of deadlocks in the presence of shared locking on distributed database performance.
