Draft genome sequence of Gleimia europaea DSM 26657

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Gleimia europaea DSM 26657, a pathogenic gram-positive bacillus, isolated from a patient with a subcutaneous fistula in 2007 in Germany. The genome is 2.0 Mb in size with 1,813 predicted genes, having only one putative antibiotic resistance gene.

Draft genome sequence of Exiguobacterium sp. from whole cantaloupe, with inhibition capacity against Listeria monocytogenes

ABSTRACT We report the draft genome sequence of a novel species, Exiguobacterium sp., isolated from a freshly harvested and untreated cantaloupe in North Carolina. The strain Exiguobacterium wild type exhibited inhibitory activity against the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes , including strains of diverse serotypes and genotypes, both on agar media and in biofilms.

Draft Genome Sequence of the Biofuel-Relevant Microalga Desmodesmus armatus

A draft genome of 906 scaffolds of 115.8 Mb was created for Desmodesmus armatus , a diploid, lipid- and storage carbohydrate-accumulating microalga proven relevant for large-scale, outdoor cultivation, and serves as a model alga platform for improving photosynthetic efficiency and carbon assimilation for next-generation bioenergy production.

Draft assemblies for three geographically distinct isolates of the human-infecting microsporidium Encephalitozoon intestinalis

Encephalitozoon intestinalis is an obligate intracellular parasite that causes enteritis, bronchitis, conjunctivitis, and/or encephalitis in immunosuppressed and immunocompetent individuals. To better assess its genetic diversity, here we report near-chromosome-level draft genome assemblies for three geographically distinct isolates, quadrupling the number of genome assemblies available for the enigmatic fungal pathogen.

Draft Genome Sequences of Two Staphylococcus warneri Clinical Isolates, Strains SMA0023-04 (UGA3) and SMA0670-05 (UGA28), from Siaya County Referral Hospital, Siaya, Kenya

We report the complete draft genome sequences of two Staphylococcus warneri clinical isolates, strains SMA0023-04 (UGA3) and SMA0670-05 (UGA28), each of which contains one chromosome and at least one plasmid. Isolate SMA0023-04 (UGA3) contains tetracycline efflux major facilitator superfamily (MFS) transporter ( tetK ), macrolide resistance ( msrC and mphC ), and beta-lactamase ( blaZ ) genes on its plasmids.

Complete Genome Sequence for Asinibacterium sp. Strain OR53 and Draft Genome Sequence for Asinibacterium sp. Strain OR43, Two Bacteria Tolerant to Uranium

Asinibacterium sp. strains OR43 and OR53 belong to the phylum Bacteroidetes and were isolated from subsurface sediments in Oak Ridge, TN. Both strains grow at elevated levels of heavy metals. Here, we present the closed genome sequence of Asinibacterium sp. strain OR53 and the draft genome sequence of Asinibacterium sp. strain OR43.

Permanent draft genome of strain ESFC-1: ecological genomics of a newly discovered lineage of filamentous diazotrophic cyanobacteria

The nonheterocystous filamentous cyanobacterium, strain ESFC-1, is a recently described member of the order Oscillatoriales within the Cyanobacteria . ESFC-1 has been shown to be a major diazotroph in the intertidal microbial mat system at Elkhorn Slough, CA, USA. Based on phylogenetic analyses of the 16S RNA gene, ESFC-1 appears to belong to a unique, genus-level divergence; the draft genome sequence of this strain has now been determined. Here we report features of this genome as they relate to the ecological functions and capabilities of strain ESFC-1. The 5,632,035 bp genome sequence encodes 4914 protein-coding genes and 92 RNA genes. One striking feature of this cyanobacterium is the apparent lack of either uptake or bi-directional hydrogenases typically expected within a diazotroph. In addition, a large genomic island is found that contains numerous low GC-content genes and genes related to extracellular polysaccharide production and cell wall synthesis and maintenance.

High quality draft genome sequences of Pseudomonas fulva DSM 17717 T , Pseudomonas parafulva DSM 17004 T and Pseudomonas cremoricolorata DSM 17059 T type strains

Pseudomonas has the highest number of species out of any genus of Gram-negative bacteria and is phylogenetically divided into several groups. The Pseudomonas putida phylogenetic branch includes at least 13 species of environmental and industrial interest, plant-associated bacteria, insect pathogens, and even some members that have been found in clinical specimens. In the context of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project, we present the permanent, high-quality draft genomes of the type strains of 3 taxonomically and ecologically closely related species in the Pseudomonas putida phylogenetic branch: Pseudomonas fulva DSM 17717 T , Pseudomonas parafulva DSM 17004 T and Pseudomonas cremoricolorata DSM 17059T. All three genomes are comparable in size (4.6-4.9Mb), with 4,119-4,459 protein-coding genes. Average nucleotide identity based on BLAST comparisons and digital genome-to-genome distance calculations are in good agreement with experimental DNA-DNA hybridization results. The genome sequences presented here will be very helpful in elucidating the taxonomy, phylogeny and evolution of the Pseudomonas putida species complex.

High-quality draft genome sequence of Sedimenticola selenatireducens strain AK4OH1T, a gammaproteobacterium isolated from estuarine sediment

Abstract Sedimenticola selenatireducens strain AK4OH1 T (= DSM 17993 T = ATCC BAA-1233 T ) is a microaerophilic bacterium isolated from sediment from the Arthur Kill intertidal strait between New Jersey and Staten Island, NY. S. selenatireducens is Gram-negative and belongs to the Gammaproteobacteria . Strain AK4OH1 T was the first representative of its genus to be isolated for its unique coupling of the oxidation of aromatic acids to the respiration of selenate. It is a versatile heterotroph and can use a variety of carbon compounds, but can also grow lithoautotrophically under hypoxic and anaerobic conditions. The draft genome comprises 4,588,530 bp and 4276 predicted protein-coding genes including genes for the anaerobic degradation of 4-hydroxybenzoate and benzoate. Here we report the main features of the genome of S. selenatireducens strain AK4OH1 T .
