Development of a method of analysis and computer program for calculating the inviscid flow about the windward surfaces of space shuttle configurations at large angles of attack

A general method developed for the analysis of inviscid hypersonic shock layers is discussed for application to the case of the shuttle vehicle at high (65 deg) angle of attack. The associated extensive subsonic flow region caused convergence difficulties whose resolution is discussed. It is required that the solution be smoother than anticipated.

REDUCE 2: A computer program for the symbolic reduction of large block diagrams

REDUCE 2 is reported as a FORMAC program which symbolically calculates the transfer function(s) of any linear-block-diagram output variable to any or all input variables. The program requires as input a set of algebraic expressions representing the block diagram, the desired transfer function(s), and a string of variables indicating the desired order of reduction. The solution is presented in the compact form of a set of nested functions (super G's). The program can handle systems as large as 600 equations and is intended as a tool for the analysis of complex control and dynamic systems. A companion FORTRAN program, EVAL 2, which numerically evaluates the solution set to obtain amplitude ratio and phase angle as functions of frequency is also presented.

Regenerative cooling design and analysis computer program

Program evaluates influences of heat transfer, stress, and cycle life. Coolant passages may be tubes or channels, with or without gas-side wall coating. Program options include two-dimensional thermal analysis model of tube or channel cross-section using relaxation technique with variable number of nodes.

Computer programs for calculating potential flow in propulsion system inlets

Calculational procedure evolved in process of designing inlets. Douglas axisymmetric potential flow program called EOD calculates incompressible potential flow about arbitrary bodies. Program SCIRCL generates input for EOD from inlet components. Program COMBYN takes basic solutions output by EOD and combines them into solutions of interest and applied compressibility correction.

Computer program for definition of transonic axial-flow compressor blade rows

Particular type of blade element used has two segments which have centerlines and surfaces described by constant change of angle with path distance on cone. Program is result of rework of earlier program to give major gains in accuracy, reliability and speed. It also covers more steps of overall compressor design procedure.

View factor computer program (VIEW)

Existing view factor program, RAVFAC, was modified to accept NASTRAN and/or RAVFAC surface descriptions. Output formatting was altered to produce view factor matrices which could be directly input to NASTRAN.

Computer program for numerical analysis of stiffened shells of revolution

Programs, using Love-Reissner first-order shell theory, can analyze orthotropic thin shells of revolution subjected to unsymmetric distributed loading or concentrated line loads and thermal strains. They can perform stability or vibration analysis of thin shells of revolution subjected to axisymmetric distributed loading or concentrated line loads and thermal strains.

Computer program for analysis of vectorcardiograms (VECTAN II)

VECTAN II accepts as input digitized three-lead VCG data sampled at 320 samples/second/lead, analyzing one VCG complex in each 5-second interval for experiments of up to 25 minutes duration. Program calibrates these data, locates major waveforms, performs waveform analyses, and produces statistical summary of analyzed data.

Generalized environmental control and life support system computer program (G189A) configuration control, phase 2

A method for updating and maintaining the G189A program library and documentation for all program users is provided. The effort also involves: (1) providing instruction and recommendations for the use and application of the program, (2) developing new subroutines and the logic required for new simulations, (3) supporting special analyses required by CSD, and (4) conduct studies to define and understand the interaction of the shuttle ECLSS and propose payload ECLSS and ECS designs.

User's guide and description of the streamline divergence computer program

The streamline divergence program was developed to demonstrate the capability to trace inviscid surface streamlines and to calculate outflow-corrected laminar and turbulent convective heating rates on surfaces subjected to exhaust plume impingement. The analytical techniques used in formulating this program are discussed. A brief description of the streamline divergence program is given along with a user's guide. The program input and output for a sample case are also presented.

Numerical nonlinear inelastic analysis of stiffened shells of revolution. Volume 1: Theory manual for STARS-2P digital computer program

The theoretical analysis background for the STARS-2P nonlinear inelastic program is discussed. The theory involved is amenable for the analysis of large deflection inelastic behavior in axisymmetric shells of revolution subjected to axisymmetric loadings. The analysis is capable of considering such effects as those involved in nonproportional and cyclic loading conditions. The following are also discussed: orthotropic nonlinear kinematic hardening theory; shell wall cross sections and discrete ring stiffeners; the coupled axisymmetric large deflection elasto-plastic torsion problem; and the provision for the inelastic treatment of smeared stiffeners, isogrid, and waffle wall constructions.
