Interplay between multipolar order and multipole-induced superconductivity in PrTi 2 Al 20

Multipolar moments entail a new route to tackle frontier problems in superconductivity (SC). A key progress in the search for multipolar SC is the discovery of PrTr 2 Al 20 (Tr = Ti, V), which possesses quadrupolar and octupolar but no magnetic dipolar moments. The Kondo entanglement of these multipolar moments with conduction electrons leads to exotic SC within the multipolar ordered phase, though the precise nature of the SC remains unexplored. We experimentally investigate the SC gap structure of SC in PrTi 2 Al 20 and its La-doping evolution. Our results indicate deviations from a single s-wave gap, instead favoring nodal d-wave or multiple gaps. While the SC is robust against La dilution, the SC gap structure changes with minimal La doping, coinciding with a sharp change in the ferroquadrupolar (FQ) order. This suggests an intimate link between the quadrupolar order parameter and SC pairing, providing insight into the coexistence of SC with multipolar order.

Multipole polaron roams the devil’s staircase

We report Electron–boson interaction (EBI) has an important role in the properties of materials. Electron–phonon interaction in good metals can give rise to superconductivity, where electrons flow without dissipation below a critical temperature. In ionic crystals such as organic semiconductors, the coupling of low-energy electrons (or holes) with the atomic vibrations can drive the formation of polarons — an electron dressed with a phonon cloud, with lower mobility and heavy effective mass. The same notion can be applied to strongly correlated electron systems. Electron–spin fluctuation coupling drives unconventional superconductivity in high-temperature cuprates, iron-based superconductors and heavy-fermion systems. Magnetic polarons can form around charged dopants in an otherwise antiferromagnetic background of a Mott insulator, while an electron–polaron is also possible, via electron–plasmon coupling, when a Kondo hole is introduced in a heavy-fermion material, similar to a plasmaron in doped graphene.

Jülich-Bonn-Washington model for pion electroproduction multipoles

Pion electroproduction off the proton is analyzed in a new framework based on a general parametrization of transition amplitudes, including constraints from gauge invariance and threshold behavior. Data with energies 1.13 GeV < W < 1.6 GeV and Q 2 below 6 Ge V 2 are included. The model is an extension of the latest Jülich-Bonn solution incorporating constraints from pion-induced and photoproduction data. Here, performing large-scale fits (≈10 5 data) we find a set of solutions with $χ^2_{\text{dof}}$ = 1.69–1.81 which allows us to assess the systematic uncertainty of the approach.

Improvement of Wire-Stretching Technique to the RF Measurements of E-Center and Multipole Field for the Dipole Cavities

After the first publication [1] of wire-stretching technique from its principle to measure the electrical center of a deflecting cavity, more refinements of this techniques including the review of its analytical and simulation results, RF circuit improvement the signal to noise ratio and its application to other cavities have been developed. These applications include the electrical center measurements for the LHC RFD and DQW crabbing cavity prototypes, multi-frequency harmonic kicker cavity for JLEIC electron cooler [2], TE011 cavity developed for the beam magnetization measurement [3], and a separator cavity at BNL [4].
