This slide set presents a few corrections and the solution to Problems 1 and 2 fro the SSDDS Course taught by Bill Anderson.
The presentation was prepared for a BLABS seminar and includes various graphical images. The summary given highlighted: Topological pumping can be triggered by interlayer sliding in TBG due to the nontrivial topology associated with the synthetic dimension; Time-reversal symmetry of TBG can be spontaneously broken by Coulomb interaction, that results in the valley-polarized QAH state at 3/4 filling; A large enough current can pump electrons from the valence band to conductance band, that redistributes the electron occupation; and, the redistribution of electron occupation combined with the Coulomb interaction can switch the valley polarization and topology.

Slides are presented focusing on the HOSS (Hybrid Optimization Software Suite).
The presentation highlights the mission relevance and impact, and the10-year goal to understand and predict the effects of nuclear events on natural environments (Earth's core to space). Included is an organization chart, funding and scientific areas involved, and LANL's role. Highlights and a forward look conclude the slides.
The slides show an analysis by the Center for Aerosol-gas Forensic Experiments (CAFE) of the smoke from the Rio Medio Fire regarding its impact on LANL and the vicinity.
The slides discuss the 2020 review of the Axis 2 rf observations.
InterSpec is a spectrum viewing and analysis tool that can be used for nuclide identification and quantification. Developed at Sandia National Laboratories, it is open source and can be obtained at: https://github.com/sandialabs/interspec/releases. These slides do not cover nuclide quantification and only touch on nuclide identification (ID).
As the realization of an Electron Ion Collider (EIC) moves forward, efforts from the nuclear physics community continue to grow. In addition to the ongoing detector R&D efforts, plans for novel analysis topics must be demonstrated to aid in the detector designs, so that we can maximize the physics output of the EIC. This relies on input from both the experimental and theory communities. The aim of this workshop is to gather experts as well as those with a developing interest in the EIC so that theorists and experimentalists with experience measuring jets in a variety of hadronic collision systems can discuss the possible advantages and challenges of making measurements of jets in e+p and for the first time ever jets in e+A collisions at the EIC. In the time since the EIC white paper was written in 2011, there has been a growing recognition that jet observables could be a powerful probe of many of the physics topics which will be addressed by the EIC. Recent years have seen a multitude of both theoretical and experimental papers exploring the utility of jets for topics as diverse as determining the hadronic structure of photons, studying the 3D structure of the nucleon, and characterizing the properties of the matter found in nuclei. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for both theorists and experimentalists to discuss the possible advantages and challenges of jet measurements in e+p and e+A collisions at the EIC, learn about the status of necessary simulation tools, consider requirements on detector performance, and propose new ideas for jet observables and measurements. This proceedings report is a compilation of slides from the presentations.
The training slides go over the Document Configuration Management process at LANL.
This slide deck is an appendix to a paper series that examines potential challenges related to planning future power systems with higher solar photovoltaic (PV) penetrations. The series uses the western U.S. power system for these investigations because it is a region the authors and their colleagues have already extensively studied. We are therefore well-suited to analyze even higher PV penetrations and then examine the results in multiple models to determine whether our current approaches are missing key details that only emerge at higher PV penetrations. This deck details the systems underlying those analyses and how they were modeled using the Resource Planning Model (RPM), a capacity expansion modeling tool. We examine both Western Interconnection-wide and regional results for three regions in the Western U.S. with significantly different existing power systems and connections to neighboring regions; this provides a more balanced picture as to how power systems with high PV penetration might emerge in different contexts and what the resulting grid challenges, if any, might be.
This slide set captures the content presented and discussion points covered in the 3/31/21 Pu/Z/ICE disposition working group meeting.

Upon MATOC Award, SUBCONTRACTOR shall submit a Quality Assurance Program for evaluation in accordance with subcontract technical and quality requirements. This may be the Subcontractors corporate QA program. Acceptance by Triad of the SUBCONTRACTORS Quality Assurance Program (QAP), as prescribed in Exhibit H, QC-01A and 01B, allows the SUBCONTRACTOR to execute this contract using their approved QAP. SUBCONTRACTORS QAP as approved by CONTRACTOR must meet the applicable requirements of DOE Order 414.1D (see next slide) and must address flow down of the quality requirements to lower tier subcontractors. Triad acceptance of SUBCONTRACTOR’s QAP approval is required prior to Notice to Proceed with on-site work. A Project Specific QA plan may on rare occasions be required for a specific task

This quarter’s training assignment is split into two sections. Section one will review the fundamental elements of removing items from controlled areas. This section discusses each decision point and the required actions to determine if an item is suitable for release. Section two briefly reviews Area Radiation Monitors, commonly referred to as ‘ARMs’, and discusses the required actions to take in the event of an ARM alarm.” Report includes slides and transcript.
