FECM/NETL CO 2 Transport Cost Model (2023): Description and User’s Manual

The FECM/NETL CO 2 Transport Cost Model (CO 2 _T_COM) is an Excel spreadsheet model that calculates the cost of transporting CO 2 from the beginning to the end of a pipeline. This document provides two main functions. First, the document describes the equations and algorithms that are used by the model to calculate technical quantities (such as the minimum inner pipe diameter needed to transport a user-specified CO 2 mass flow rate a specified distance) and engineering-economic quantities (such as capital costs, operating costs and cash flows). Second, the document is a user’s manual for the model that describes the procedures the user must follow to run the model. The document also describes input variables and output variables (i.e., results) for the model. The model can be accessed at this URL: https://www.netl.doe.gov/energy-analysis/details?id=d3086f60-278d-4e97-a649-8e4d5ce5e93c

EOSPAC User's Manual: Version 6.5 Second Edition (Rev. 3)

The EOSPAC utility package is a collection of interface routines, which can be used to access the SESAME data library and perform various data adjustments and interpolations on the SESAME data. The SESAME data library contains both thermodynamic (e.g., equation of state) and transport coefficients (e.g., opacity and conductivity). Note, for simplicity, the term EOS (equation of state) used herein includes both thermodynamic variables and transport coefficients. The EOSPAC utility package is designed to be used by physics codes (henceforth ”host codes”) written in multiple languages and on multiple platforms. The remainder of this manual is organized into several sections. Chapter 2 discusses conventions such as data organization and routine names. Chapter 3 provides a general overview of basic theory and models implemented within EOSPAC. Chapter 4 provides a general overview of how to use the EOSPAC interface library. Chapters 5 to 7 describe the public interfaces of EOSPAC in detail. Chapter 8 provides a brief introduction to some related tools, which may be of use to the user. Chapter 9 provides details related to some selected numerical features of EOSPAC. Chapter 10 gives examples for using the interface routines described in chapters 5 to 7. Chapter 11 provides technical support contact information. Chapter 12 contains a brief set of acknowledgments. Chapter 13 contains a list of referenced documents. Finally, chapter 14 lists the “table types: mnemonic conventions”, “table types: grouped by category, sorted by name”, “table types: eospac version 5 cross reference”, “options: setup phase”, “data information parameters”, “meta-data information parameters”, “options: interpolation phase”, and the “error codes”.

User Manual - HydraGNN: Distributed PyTorch Implementation of Multi-Headed Graph Convolutional Neural Networks

This document serves as user manual for HydraGNN, a scalable graph neural network (GNN) architecture that allows for a simultaneous prediction of multiple target properties using multi-task learning (MTL). The HydraGNN architecture is constructed by successive superposition of three different sets of layers. The first set is made of message-passing layers to exchange information across nodes in the graph and use this to update the nodal features. The second set is made of global pooling layers that aggregate information from all the nodes in the graph and map it into a scalar, and is needed only for global target properties that are related to the entire graph. The third set of layers is dedicated to the implementation of MTL, which is enabled by forking of the architecture into separate heads, each one of them dedicated to the predictive task of one specific target property. Through an object-oriented programming paradigm, HydraGNN is templated over different message-passing policies, which allows for a user-friendly hyperparameter study to assess the sensitivity of the predictive performance of the HydraGNN architecture on a specific dataset with respect to the choice of the message-passing policy. The object-oriented paradigm used by HydraGNN also allows for a user-friendly inclusion of newly developed message passing policies within the existing framework. HydraGNN supports distributed computing capabilities for scalable data reading and scalable training on leadership-class supercomputers.

MultiPEM Toolbox: User Manual [Rev. 2]

This document explains use of the Multi-Phenomenology Explosion Monitoring (Multi PEM) Toolbox, a collection of R scripts for estimating the unknown device parameters of a new event with uncertainty quantification. The methodology and application used for illustration in this user manual are fully documented in a Los Alamos National Laboratory technical report hereafter designated “WPA” for reference. Additional details on the application are found in a recent journal article. Two assessment types are available: rapid and complete. Rapid assessments are conducted in two stages, as described in Section 2. In the first stage, calibration data are used to estimate forward and error model parameters (WPA, §5.1) and (if relevant) errors-in-variables yield values for calibration sources (WPA, §3, Equation (3)). In the second stage, new event data are used to estimate the unknown new event device parameters (WPA, §5.2) with uncertainty quantification. Two options for treating the inferred first stage parameters in second stage Bayesian analysis are available: fixing them at their maximum likelihood estimate (default), or multiple imputation. Multiple imputation involves utilizing several posterior samples (imputations) of the first stage parameters as fixed values in the second stage posterior sampling of the new event device parameters. Second stage sampling is conducted across imputations in parallel to improve computational efficiency. This method produces improved uncertainty quantification of the new event device parameters compared with the default treatment of the first stage parameters, at the expense of additional computation. Complete assessments are conducted in a single stage, as described in Section 3. Calibration and (if relevant) new event data are used simultaneously to estimate all forward model, error model, and (if relevant) new event device parameters with uncertainty quantification on the latter. As the name suggests, rapid assessments generally run substantially faster than complete assessments (even with multiple imputation), because the results of first stage analysis can be stored and incorporated into estimating a relatively low-dimensional space of new event device parameters whenever relevant new event data becomes available. On the other hand, complete assessments must be run on the full set of model and device parameters with calibration and new event data every time the latter becomes available.

Neutronics Enhanced Meshing Operations (NEMO) Users Manual V.1.0

The is a Python framework developed at Idaho National Laboratory that uses the Cubit Python to build Cubit models and export them in EXODUS II format. These EXODUS mesh files can be used by any -based application, but NEMO is specialized for coupled neutronics calculations. Therefore, the primary purpose of NEMO is to prepare mesh files for reactor geometries and generate a homogenization overlay file for the Serpent Monte Carlo code. This homogenization overlay file ensures the consistency of the mesh with the generation of homogenized cross sections and reference fluxes for the Superhomogenization method. NEMO also supports the preparation of mesh files for thermal and thermo-mechanical models, particularly the discontinuous finite element gap heat transfer model in Griffin. This manual introduces the user to the basic capabilities in NEMO for prismatic geometries.

Theory Manual for the Reaction Summary Module- SUMMAR

The post-processing module of DIF3D called SUMMAR was created to produce commonly used reactor engineering outputs. It is a optional output option for DIF3D and provides alternative summarizes of power, flux, and neutron balance over the user specified regions and areas. It can also provide isotope-wise microscopic and macroscopic reaction rates along with the effective one-group microscopic cross sections needed for solving the Bateman equations. This report serves as both the theory manual, user guide, and software verification of the SUMMAR module. The methodology and equations for all SUMMAR calculated parameters are presented here and discussed. Then the verification work, based upon simple DIF3D models, is presented to validate the derived equations. The SUMMAR inputs and outputs are detailed and examples are given to demonstrate it.
