The Ranger program

Lunar spacecraft missions and the Ranger spacecraft are described. These spacecrafts were designed to achieve lunar impact trajectories and to transmit high resolution photographs of the lunar surface during the final minutes of flight. The television experiments are briefly evaluated.

Lunar impact: A history of Project Ranger

Complete history of the Ranger project is provided as a tool for understanding the evolution and operational form of NASA's continuing progress of unmanned space exploration. Basic management techniques, flight operating procedures and technology for NASA's later unmanned lunar and planetary missions were reviewed. Methods for selecting experiments and integrating them with the spacecraft were also investigated.

Solar-heated ranger station--Glendo, Wyoming

Report evaluates solar-energy system in residential ranger station. Installation provided 22 percent of space-heating and 58 percent of hot-water energy requirements. Annual net energy savings were 30 million Btu. Report describes system and its subsystems: collector array, storage, hot-water, and space-heating. Average weather conditions of test site, performance values, and energy savings are listed.

A low-cost forward fairing for the Bell Long Ranger Helicopter

A description is presented of work concerned with determining the effects of long-term flight service on advanced composite helicopter airframe components. The helicopter chosen for the program is the Long Ranger Model 206L. The components to be evaluated include the baggage door, litter door, vertical fin, and forward fairing. Only the vertical fin is classified as primary structure. Loss of any of the other components will not compromise safety of the aircraft. Attention is given to the program objectives, the design of the forward fairing, the fabrication procedures, the exterior surface, the cocure procedure, material tests, and initial cost-tracking. The considered program demonstrates the ability to produce an acceptable fairing by the 'one-shot' cocured process and, based on learning curve experience, production costs will be low. The low-temperature 200 F cure does not affect the structural properties to an unacceptable degree. A method for obtaining a smooth, exterior painted surface for Kevlar/epoxy fabric has been developed.

Responsive Assistant For Navigating And Guiding Engineering With Rigor (ranger)

The bot uses the GitHub API to fetch discussions from a MOOSE repository and store the data in a vector database. When a new discussion is initiated, the algorithm compares the discussion title with the content of all previous discussions (title + discussions) in the database and provides the most relevant posts to the user. The database is updated regularly to include all new posts, potentially on a monthly basis.

RANGERS: Methodology for Design and Performance Assessment of Engineered Barrier Systems in a Salt Repository for HLW/SNF: Synthesis Report

Salt formations have long been recognized as a highly favorable host rock for the final disposal of high-level radioactive waste (HLW) in deep geological repositories. Their unique properties, including exceptional impermeability, self-healing capabilities, and thermal conductivity, make them a reliable natural barrier for the deep disposal of radioactive waste. This report focuses on the development and application of a methodology for assessing the integrity and per formance of the Engineered Barrier System (EBS) within salt-based repositories, a critical component of the multi-barrier system ensuring safe radioactive waste disposal.
