CMB lensing and Ly⁢ α forest cross bispectrum from DESI’s first-year quasar sample

The squeezed cross-bispectrum B κ,Ly α between the gravitational lensing in the cosmic microwave background and the 1D Ly α forest power spectrum can constrain bias parameters and break degeneracies between σ8 and other cosmological parameters. We detect B κ,Ly ⁢α with 4.8⁢σ significance at an effective redshift z eff =2.4 using Planck PR3 lensing map and over 280,000 quasar spectra from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument’s first-year data. We test our measurement against metal contamination and foregrounds such as Galactic extinction and clusters of galaxies by deprojecting the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect. Finally, we compare our results to a tree-level perturbation theory calculation and find reasonable agreement between the model and measurement.

LACIE area sampling frame and sample selection

Transparent acetate overlays containing agricultural boundaries within each of the LACIE countries were prepared and registered to operational navigation charts (ONC's). Full frame LANDSAT color-infrared images of the same scale as the ONC's (1:1 million) were used to identify agricultural boundaries based on discernible agricultural field patterns. Preliminary steps taken in the preparation of the base map overlay, and the construction of an overlay of the base map physical features are described as well as the construction of the agricultural and nonagricultural delineation overlay.

Hubble Space telescope thermal cycle test report for large solar array samples with BSFR cells (Sample numbers 703 and 704)

The Hubble space telescope (HST) solar array was designed to meet specific output power requirements after 2 years in low-Earth orbit, and to remain operational for 5 years. The array, therefore, had to withstand 30,000 thermal cycles between approximately +100 and -100 C. The ability of the array to meet this requirement was evaluated by thermal cycle testing, in vacuum, two 128-cell solar cell modules that exactly duplicated the flight HST solar array design. Also, the ability of the flight array to survive an emergency deployment during the dark (cold) portion of an orbit was evaluated by performing a cold-roll test using one module.

Analysis of samples of reflector materials which are multicoated and metal samples with oxide coatings which have been exposed the space environment in LDEF testing

The use of low angle x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), and Auger spectrometry have been tested as suitable methods for analysis of thin oxide films on metal substrates exposed to the space environment during Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) testing. No significant changes in the composition of silicon monoxide overcoats on aluminum surfaces was found. XPS and Auger testing appear to be more suitable for ultrathin films than XRD.

Aerogel as a Sample Collector and Sample Mount for Transmission XRD Analysis

Silica aerogel can be used for dust collection and in situ X-ray analysis. Aerogels can be less absorbing than Be, and it is feasible to obtain X-ray transmission factors >50% using typical aerogels together with a 100-micrometer Be backing foil. Additional information is contained in the original extended abstract.
