Helmet system broadcasts electroencephalograms of wearer

EEG monitoring system consisting of nonirritating sponge-type electrodes, amplifiers, and a battery-powered wireless transmitter, all mounted in the subjects helmet, obtains electroencephalograms /EEGs/ of pilots and astronauts performing tasks under stress. After a quick initial fitting, the helmet can be removed and replaced without adjustments.

Survey of man-made electrical noise affecting radio broadcasting

Survey, consisting of limited noise measurements, was made to augment and verify existing data at HF and VHF and to obtain basic data at UHF. Exact frequencies were determined by the absence of intentionally generated signals around three selected frequencies.

Broadcast control of air traffic

Concepts of increased pilot participation in air traffic control are presented. The design of an air traffic control system for pilot usage is considered. The operating and safety benefits of LF/VLF approaches in comparison to current nonprecision approach procedures and systems are discussed. With a good national system plan, flight testing and validation, and the use of local differential, or general diurnal, corrections, the LF/VLF system would provide service superior to that presently available.

Broadcast control of air traffic

The proceedings of a conference on the Omega navigation system are presented. Three significant low frequency/very low frequency possibilities are considered as follows: (1) use of Worldwide (WW) Omega, (2) use of an Omega-like system optimized for aviation in the continental United States, (3) a mix use of WW Omega and Vor, U.S. Omega and VOR, and U.S./WW Omega. It is concluded that all possibilites can be tested with current plans for WW Omega.

Television broadcast relay system, volume 2

A statistical analysis of propagation characteristics at 12 GHz for the design of a worldwide communication satellite system is reported. High power spaceborne TV transmitter design and the development of a low cost, low noise ground receiver for domestic reception are considered most important for implementation of a TVBS system.
