Direct recycling of lithium-ion battery scraps for manufacturing a new anode

An improved method of recycling lithium-ion battery anode scraps is provided. The method involves isolating an anode scrap including a graphite anode film adhered to a current collector foil with a polyvinylidene fluoride binder. The anode scrap is combined with deionized water to form a first mixture. The graphite anode film is delaminated from the current collector foil to form a second mixture comprising a free collector foil and a free graphite anode film. The free graphite anode film is filtered and dried from the second mixture to recover the free graphite anode film. The free graphite anode film is combined with a solvent comprising N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) to form an anode formation slurry. The slurry is coated onto a copper current collector to produce a new anode.

Deep Space 1 Mission and observation of Comet Borrelly

After DS1 1 completed its successful primary mission in 1999, NASA sent it on a risky and ambitious extended mission to conduct comet science. In September 2001, DSl executed a flawless encounter with comet Borrelly, yielding the best pictures and other scientific data ever collected at a comet, providing scientists with a tremendous advance in our understanding of these intriguing and important parts of the solar system.

Autonomous Sciencecraft Constellation science study report

The image processing and scientific analysis techniques described in this study report are not confined to radar date of Earth. The techniques have widespread applications, theoretically to any instrument at any wavelength (such as visible and infrared imagers). We illustrate how the same techniques demonstrated by ASC can be used to search for change, and identify features, on Mars and the Jovian satelites, Europa and IO.

NASA's First New Millenium Deep-Space Technology Validation Flight

Planned for launch in 1998, the first flight of NASA's New Millenium Program will validate selected breakthrough technologies required for future low-cost, low-mass, space science missions. The principal objective is to validate these advanced technologies thoroughly enough that subsequent users may be confident of their performance, thus reducing the cost and risk of science missions in the 21st century.
