Materials Data on Sm(CoB)2 by Materials Project

SmCo2B2 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm3+ is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent B3- atoms. All Sm–B bond lengths are 2.96 Å. Co+1.50+ is bonded to four equivalent B3- atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner and edge-sharing CoB4 tetrahedra. All Co–B bond lengths are 2.00 Å. B3- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Sm3+ and four equivalent Co+1.50+ atoms.

Materials Data on Sm2Co7B3 by Materials Project

Sm2Co7B3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are three inequivalent Sm sites. In the first Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Sm and six equivalent Co atoms. Both Sm–Sm bond lengths are 3.30 Å. All Sm–Co bond lengths are 2.93 Å. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Sm, twelve equivalent Co, and six equivalent B atoms. Both Sm–Sm bond lengths are 3.03 Å. All Sm–Co bond lengths are 2.92 Å. All Sm–B bond lengths are 2.93 Å. In the third Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to two Sm, twelve Co, and six equivalent B atoms. There are six shorter (2.86 Å) and six longer (2.98 Å) Sm–Co bond lengths. All Sm–B bond lengths are 2.93 Å. There are three inequivalent Co sites. In the first Co site, Co is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Sm and six equivalent Co atoms. All Co–Co bond lengths are 2.45 Å. In the second Co site, Co is bonded in a distorted L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Sm, two equivalent Co, and two equivalent B atoms. Both Co–B bond lengths are 2.05 Å. In the third Co site, Co is bonded in a distorted rectangular see-saw-like geometry to four Sm and four B atoms. There are two shorter (2.07 Å) and two longer (2.08 Å) Co–B bond lengths. There are two inequivalent B sites. In the first B site, B is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Sm and six equivalent Co atoms. In the second B site, B is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Sm and six Co atoms.

SmCo3B2 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm3+ is bonded in a hexagonal planar geometry to six equivalent B3- atoms. All Sm–B bond lengths are 2.92 Å. Co1+ is bonded in a square co-planar geometry to four equivalent B3- atoms. All Co–B bond lengths are 2.10 Å. B3- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Sm3+ and six equivalent Co1+ atoms.

Materials Data on Sm2Co14B by Materials Project

Sm2Co14B crystallizes in the tetragonal P4_2/mnm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Sm sites. In the first Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to sixteen Co and two equivalent B atoms. There are a spread of Sm–Co bond distances ranging from 2.95–3.24 Å. Both Sm–B bond lengths are 3.10 Å. In the second Sm site, Sm is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to sixteen Co and one B atom. There are a spread of Sm–Co bond distances ranging from 2.95–3.30 Å. The Sm–B bond length is 2.82 Å. There are six inequivalent Co sites. In the first Co site, Co is bonded to two Sm and ten Co atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner, edge, and face-sharing CoSm2Co10 cuboctahedra. There are a spread of Co–Co bond distances ranging from 2.34–2.58 Å. In the second Co site, Co is bonded to four Sm and eight Co atoms to form a mixture of corner and face-sharing CoSm4Co8 cuboctahedra. All Co–Co bond lengths are 2.52 Å. In the third Co site, Co is bonded in a distorted L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Sm, four Co, and two equivalent B atoms. There are two shorter (2.42 Å) and two longer (2.70 Å) Co–Co bond lengths. Both Co–B bond lengths are 2.02 Å. In the fourth Co site, Co is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to two Sm and twelve Co atoms. There are a spread of Co–Co bond distances ranging from 2.59–2.72 Å. In the fifth Co site, Co is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to two Sm, seven Co, and one B atom. The Co–Co bond length is 2.51 Å. The Co–B bond length is 2.05 Å. In the sixth Co site, Co is bonded to three Sm and nine Co atoms to form distorted CoSm3Co9 cuboctahedra that share corners with fourteen CoSm2Co10 cuboctahedra, edges with three CoSm3Co9 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve CoSm2Co10 cuboctahedra. The Co–Co bond length is 2.41 Å. B is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to three Sm and six Co atoms.

Materials Data on Sm(Co2B)6 by Materials Project

SmCo12B6 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm3+ is bonded in a hexagonal planar geometry to six equivalent B3- atoms. All Sm–B bond lengths are 3.05 Å. There are two inequivalent Co+1.25+ sites. In the first Co+1.25+ site, Co+1.25+ is bonded in a T-shaped geometry to three equivalent B3- atoms. All Co–B bond lengths are 2.10 Å. In the second Co+1.25+ site, Co+1.25+ is bonded to four equivalent B3- atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing CoB4 trigonal pyramids. There are two shorter (2.03 Å) and two longer (2.04 Å) Co–B bond lengths. B3- is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to one Sm3+ and seven Co+1.25+ atoms.
