Bistable fluid jet amplifier with low sensitivity to receiver reverse flow
Active fluidic dampers are proposed for controlling turbopump-shaft whirl. Study indicates that linear variable-bleed detector and linear bistable amplifier are effective in supplying sizable controlled damping forces. Linear bistable device was considered as simplest and most adequate.
Scaling parameters of three fluid amplifier elements - bistable, boundary layer control, and vortex devices
Bistable amplifier prevents damage in the low range circuitry of a dual scale ammeter. It senses the current and switches automatically to the high range circuitry as the current rises above a preset level.
A pure fluid thrust control system is described for a pump-fed, regeneratively cooled liquid propellant rocket engine. A proportional fluid amplifier and a bistable fluid amplifier control overshoot in the starting of the engine and take it to a predetermined thrust. An ejector type pump is provided in the line between the liquid hydrogen rocket nozzle heat exchanger and the turbine driving the fuel pump to aid in bringing the fluid at this point back into the regular system when it is not bypassed. The thrust control system is intended to function in environments too severe for mechanical controls.
FET comparator circuit detects discrete analog computer output levels without excessively loading the output amplifier of the computer. An FET common source amplifier is coupled by a differential amplifier to a bistable transistor flip-flop. This circuit provides a digital output for analog voltages above or below a predetermined level.
Study examines scaling parameters of three fluid amplifier elements - a bistable device, a boundary layer control device, and a vortex device. Variations in performance due to size, fluid, and other conditions are studied. Even with restricted examples the large number of variables impedes the establishment of these scaling laws.
ENSO (El Nino and the Southern Oscillation) is considered as a stochastic driver that excites the atmospheric anomaly states, such as Pacific North American pattern. This can make the 11 year solar activity forcing feasible to climate through stochastic resonance -- a phenomenon that amplifies a weak input to a nonlinear bistable system by the assistance of noise.
Mid IR fiber transmission and exit radiation mode patterns at various incident CO2 laser power levels appear to be effective diagnostic tools for monitoring laser induced stimulated Brillouin scattering in various mid IR fibers. Such processes are deemed to be essential mechanisms for fiber-optic amplifiers and switches as potential replacements of current repeaters and bistable devices.
