Materials Data on TmC2 by Materials Project

TmC2 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Tm is bonded in a distorted q4 geometry to ten equivalent C atoms. There are two shorter (2.40 Å) and eight longer (2.63 Å) Tm–C bond lengths. C is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Tm and one C atom. The C–C bond length is 1.31 Å.

Materials Data on Tm2C3 by Materials Project

Tm2C3 is Plutonium carbide structured and crystallizes in the cubic I-43d space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Tm3+ is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to nine equivalent C2- atoms. There are a spread of Tm–C bond distances ranging from 2.46–2.77 Å. C2- is bonded to six equivalent Tm3+ and one C2- atom to form a mixture of distorted edge, face, and corner-sharing CTm6C trigonal bipyramids. The C–C bond length is 1.34 Å.

Materials Data on Tm2C by Materials Project

Tm2C is trigonal omega-like structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3m space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of three Tm2C sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Tm is bonded in a distorted T-shaped geometry to three equivalent C atoms. All Tm–C bond lengths are 2.44 Å. C is bonded to six equivalent Tm atoms to form edge-sharing CTm6 octahedra.
