EuCd2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Imma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to twelve equivalent Cd atoms. There are a spread of Eu–Cd bond distances ranging from 3.42–3.65 Å. Cd is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Eu and four equivalent Cd atoms. There are three shorter (2.93 Å) and one longer (3.07 Å) Cd–Cd bond lengths.
EuCd11 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4_1/amd space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eighteen Cd atoms. There are a spread of Eu–Cd bond distances ranging from 3.72–3.91 Å. There are three inequivalent Cd sites. In the first Cd site, Cd is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Eu and twelve Cd atoms. There are four shorter (3.19 Å) and eight longer (3.28 Å) Cd–Cd bond lengths. In the second Cd site, Cd is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Eu and ten Cd atoms. There are a spread of Cd–Cd bond distances ranging from 2.92–3.46 Å. In the third Cd site, Cd is bonded in a distorted q6 geometry to ten Cd atoms.
EuCd3 is alpha bismuth trifluoride structured and crystallizes in the cubic Fm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu is bonded in a distorted body-centered cubic geometry to fourteen Cd atoms. There are eight shorter (3.21 Å) and six longer (3.71 Å) Eu–Cd bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Cd sites. In the first Cd site, Cd is bonded in a distorted body-centered cubic geometry to four equivalent Eu and four equivalent Cd atoms. All Cd–Cd bond lengths are 3.21 Å. In the second Cd site, Cd is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Eu and eight equivalent Cd atoms.
EuCd is Tetraauricupride structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Cd atoms. All Eu–Cd bond lengths are 3.45 Å. Cd is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Eu atoms.
