Materials Data on CeCo5 by Materials Project

CeCo5 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ce is bonded in a distorted hexagonal planar geometry to eighteen Co atoms. There are six shorter (2.82 Å) and twelve longer (3.16 Å) Ce–Co bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Co sites. In the first Co site, Co is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Ce and nine Co atoms. There are six shorter (2.46 Å) and three longer (2.82 Å) Co–Co bond lengths. In the second Co site, Co is bonded to four equivalent Ce and eight Co atoms to form a mixture of edge, corner, and face-sharing CoCe4Co8 cuboctahedra. All Co–Co bond lengths are 2.44 Å.
