Materials Data on La2CuO4 by Materials Project

La2CuO4 is (La,Ba)CuO4 structured and crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to nine O2- atoms. There are a spread of La–O bond distances ranging from 2.31–2.77 Å. Cu2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form corner-sharing CuO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°. There are four shorter (1.91 Å) and two longer (2.46 Å) Cu–O bond lengths. There are two inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five equivalent La3+ and one Cu2+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded to four equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cu2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner, edge, and face-sharing OLa4Cu2 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°.

Materials Data on LaCuO2 by Materials Project

CuLaO2 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form distorted edge-sharing LaO6 octahedra. All La–O bond lengths are 2.45 Å. Cu1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent O2- atoms. Both Cu–O bond lengths are 1.82 Å. O2- is bonded to three equivalent La3+ and one Cu1+ atom to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing OLa3Cu tetrahedra.

Materials Data on LaCuO3 by Materials Project

LaCuO3 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine equivalent O2- atoms. There are three shorter (2.44 Å) and six longer (2.74 Å) La–O bond lengths. Cu3+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form corner-sharing CuO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 20°. All Cu–O bond lengths are 1.98 Å. O2- is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to three equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cu3+ atoms.

Materials Data on La2Cu2O5 by Materials Project

La2Cu2O5 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pbam space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to ten O2- atoms. There are a spread of La–O bond distances ranging from 2.43–2.96 Å. Cu2+ is bonded to five O2- atoms to form corner-sharing CuO5 square pyramids. There are a spread of Cu–O bond distances ranging from 1.92–2.28 Å. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded to four equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cu2+ atoms to form distorted edge-sharing OLa4Cu2 octahedra. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cu2+ atoms. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cu2+ atoms.

In the second Cu2+ site, Cu2+ is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to six O2- atoms. There are a spread of Cu–O bond distances ranging from 1.93–2.70 Å. In the third Cu2+ site, Cu2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form corner-sharing CuO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 0–1°. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five La3+ and one Cu2+ atom. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to three La3+ and two Cu2+ atoms. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five La3+ and one Cu2+ atom. In the seventh O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four La3+ and two Cu2+ atoms. In the eighth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to two equivalent La3+ and three Cu2+ atoms.

In the first La site, La is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine O atoms. There are a spread of La–O bond distances ranging from 2.41–2.72 Å. In the second La site, La is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine O atoms. There are a spread of La–O bond distances ranging from 2.32–2.72 Å. Cu is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six O atoms. There are four shorter (1.83 Å) and two longer (2.37 Å) Cu–O bond lengths. There are three inequivalent O sites. In the first O site, O is bonded to five La and one Cu atom to form distorted OLa5Cu octahedra that share corners with five equivalent OLa5Cu octahedra, corners with twelve equivalent OLa4Cu square pyramids, edges with two equivalent OLa5Cu octahedra, edges with six equivalent OLa5 trigonal bipyramids, and faces with four equivalent OLa4Cu square pyramids. La(CuO2)2 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4_1/a space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight equivalent O2- atoms. There are four shorter (2.52 Å) and four longer (2.53 Å) La–O bond lengths. Cu+2.50+ is bonded in a square co-planar geometry to four equivalent O2- atoms. LaCuO3 is (Cubic) Perovskite structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded to twelve equivalent O2- atoms to form LaO12 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent LaO12 cuboctahedra, faces with six equivalent LaO12 cuboctahedra, and faces with eight equivalent CuO6 octahedra. All La–O bond lengths are 2.74 Å.
